"Oculus" wasn't horrible, but it wasn't great either. First off, it takes too long to get going--arrive 20 minutes late and you haven't missed anything. Things pick up but then it just has nowhere to go by the final act. Not enough character development to get me to care about the welfare of the protagonists, and we can only have the rug pulled out from under our feet so many times before we just start disengaging--how many times can you say, "Oh, that part was just a hallucination?" Very little depth to the movie--I wish things were less telegraphed, and more mysterious. Maybe I'm being too hard on it--there was probably enough good stuff here to make a nice nasty little 60 minute movie, but unfortunately it runs over 100 minutes, it just didn't add up to anything in danger of becoming great. And some of the dialog was just bad.
