Yeah, that's part of the fun is coming up with the right solution, for the right dollars at the time.

We ended up with twelve kids and five adults - packed in like sardines but the kids still enjoyed it. Is also one of those movies with lots of things for the adults and the audio does not disappoint either.

Unfortunately, you do have to take the good with the bad, and would be interesting to have a month of ALL heavy hitters.

I don't have this yet on Blu so this will be a treat in Oct!
I had thought about ripping my BR collection and having on some kind of home network but what's the point as things move towards 4k. I'm still rocking my 65VT50 and have no plans to upgrade but I'm not ready to invest time and money to rip hundreds of titles and then get into 4k a 3-5 years down the road.

I just got done ripping all my stuff. DVD and Blu. I've no intention of rebuying the DVD's on Blu. It was a tedious process but worth it.

So I stumbled across this guy's youtube channel and although I have yet to watch any of his reviews (which some are of more recent movies and one's discussed frequently here) he seems to be "like-minded" with a solid handle on what makes for solid horror. His channel is here and his list of "most Disturbing Movies Ever Made is below. It was made in 2012 so does not include more recent films. I have not see all the titles on his list but what I have seen I think has earned a place there so this post might be worth bookmarking to copy and paste titles into youtube to watch trailers and add to our lists in October.

Yeah that guy is a riot and I like his reviews!

One day I am going to build a HTPC and put my DVD's/Blus on it. Oh and I my fault for not being specific, The Texas Chainsaw is remastered in 4K but it is a Blu ray 1080p format. I never owned this movie on Blu yet but I think this transfer looks great!

You guys want to see a horror show on AVS, look at some of the Physical vs. Streaming/cloud threads. Both sides make some great points, but IMO I want choices to how I watch movies either by physical media or streaming. There is room for both camps...I think.

If it was easy... but after talking to darth it sounds like more of a pita than I care to deal with. I don't want issues with subtitled movies or B locked titles. I want to simply put them into a disc reader and have them spit out a file to destination of choice with nice cover art, movie title, and release date. Asking too much?

Nope. Plex does all that once you rip it.

I can see going to the trouble of ripping IF I didn't have a sh!tload of disks....
Otherwise, I can't think of a good reason.

"Slaughtered Vomit Dolls", now there's an intriguing title.

Edit: Oh, but it's just one of the trilogy! Slaughtered Vomit Dolls, ReGOREgitated Sacrifice, and Slow Torture Puke Chamber

I lost count of how many DvDs I have but I will say that doing something like that all day in the winter will keep you busy, that is for sure!

I think I was getting 3-4 ripped a day before work, at lunch etc. Then doing batch converts overnight.

That isn't too bad and the work payoff is good!

I am researching 568a and 568b terminations for HDMI extenders and this is more of PITA than anything. I am learning that HDMI gets dicey when using unshielded CAT5e wire, then you can pick up EMI and other drop outs. Good thing is my long HDMI will be in today and I hope it works, then I will just leave it be till I tear apart the room.

I watched Haunt the other night and enjoyed it. I also watched the movie The Returned and thought it was decent also.

If you have Netflix WI, "Almost Human" is worth a watch. No, it isn't the TV show but an indie movie about a guy who returns after being "abducted." It's sorta sci-fi horror. Three alien pods.

I agree the Exorcist should be on every classic horror movie list. Like Steve said that contortionist Regan and the flashes of demon faces scare me the most. I also like Jacobs Ladder for a lot of WTF did I just see and your imagination fills in the rest. All great lists gentlemen!

Good news is my 35ft of HDMI is working like a charm! I am happy and the kids are happy!

It is way clunkier than the former interface.

1) Doing multiple quotes is a challenge.
2) The "Back Button" in IE is screwed up.
3) "Submit Reply" sometimes ends in a "database error" and your entire post vanishes into the ether.

I could go on.....
