I was a bit disappointed with the opening segment. Why spend so much time on the marital counseling? That was a bit like verging into the corny territory of a broadcast TV series. Not quite up to better FX or AMC material and maybe due to GDT's inexperience with TV.

OTOH, I have one episode left of season 2 of "Hemlock Grove" to watch. I like it better than season 1. This season seems even more targeted for the millennial audience but I like the quirky characters. It's much better than many of the B movies we're fans of here.

If you want to see something really schlocky try the movie "Venom" on Hulu.

Any of you guys seen these movies and are they worthy of the Oct Pile?

Malefique 2002

Red, White and Blue 2010, I heard this was more of a revenge thriller but one of the characters deeds is pretty horrifying.

I'll have to resurrect the "Hemlock Grove" thread over there since no one else has.

I saw "Society" back in the day and it was more a "weird" movie than horror. On Netflix I watched "The Last Days" which is a Spanish apocalyptic film with a different twist: something causes an outbreak of agoraphobia in the population. If people go outside they die. I'll give it three phobics.

Trailer looks slightly above mediocre for a slasher but given the talent behind it I will expect more that what we are seeing. A trailer with English subs would be nice, I only understand the basic french expressions like "we surrender".

Two very different movies. I had to watch Livide twice to warm up to it. It is far from the disturbing gorefest of Inside but dripping with atmosphere and a unique blend of haunted house meets Neil Jordon. Solid film all in all and I am glad to own it. The bluray is region free fyi.

General Kenobi :
Is your copy of Livide the French release from 2011, that's looks to be all region and has gotten fairly expensive. I see there was a UK release that's doesn't cost as much but it says that it Reigon B only. Is there a release I don't know about.
Thanks!

Yes, I ordered it blind buy from Amazon.fr or whatever a couple years ago when it was first released. If you don't want to blind buy I'm happy to loan you my copy, just shoot me a pm.

I liked "Thale" which is on Netflix. It's a Norwegian horror film which from description sounds like a fairy tale but it isn't by any means. Quirky, not for those who don't like subtitles (unless you know Norwegian) but I'll give it 4 thale tails.

I have enjoyed the handful of Norwegian horror titles I have seen and had high hopes for this based on the story, promotional shots and it is a creature feature after all.

I viewed it for last Octoberfest and was a bit of a mixed bag for me. Great premise but felt like the movie missed a bunch of chances to really do something and the ending was pretty lame and firmly ground in too low of a budget. I was hoping to get more action out of the main Thale and the fringe ones had the potential to be really creepy and was hoping they would come in to play more. I was really hoping to buy this as I love these obscure, quirky creature features and adds a creepy feel to my bluray shelf. Expectations are a killer.

Thanks for the loan offer, I truly appreciate I actually found a copy on Amazon France. They have them from sellers and fulfilled by Amazon. I had to try a couple of sellers the first offer wouldn't ship to the US, the second one no problem. All total about $ 27.15 USD, that's about 20 dollars less than the starting offer on Amazon US and all of those offers all ship from Europe also.
Thanks for all help. I never thought of ordering from France directly (I didn't know there was an Amazon France actually).
I'd give you a big thumbs up if the forum still had them

They can't all be 'Frankenstein's Army' But since we are talking Norwegian titles what ones have you found to be bit more creepy?
