Can anyone recommend any horror/scary movies that take place in a mansion-type setting (can be a house too). Not exactly talking about a haunted house/mansion (though that would be fine too) but something along the lines of the first Resident Evil game (not movie).

The first one that comes to mine is Poltergeist, then House on Haunted Hill (1999), The Entity. I know others will chime in soon.

I also watched All Cheerleaders Die and liked it. It's a z grade Craft but not terrible and the ladies are pretty.

And if you lasted through the credits "All Cheerleaders Die 2" was promo'd.

Saw that. As previously mentioned it's totally watchable and there are far worse flicks out there.

Not sure what you are after but, The House of the Devil had cool architecture.

I am starting to save flics for October and All Cheerleader Die is on my list, such as it is. Maybe pop the ScarJo flick on there as well.

Septic Man kinda stunk. Had the impression it was more of a revenge flick, where the guy gets all infected and oozed up then goes on a killing spree. It was nothing like that. Bummer.

2014 you are slacking, please step it up!

How about House from the 80's. That's a fun one.

How about The Legend of Hell House (1973)? It's an older movie, but lots of great atmosphere. Plus a fine script and really good acting.

It finally hits Blu-ray this month. Here's a link to a short article and some clips:

Some may not consider it a mansion but to a townhouse dweller like me the house in The Collector would qualify. The carnage all takes place in this big old house with lots of rooms, levels and pathways. It even has lots of booty traps!

For any Wrong Turn fans, and you know who you are, Amazon has the first three for $17.31. Not as good a deal as the Target $4.00 Hostel 1/2 combo, but still pretty cheap.

meh
The first one rocked with Eliza Dushku and those painted on jeans and Dexter's "Quinn" and while the next couple were entertaining enough for a rental I don't care to own them :/
