33- Hostel 2 2007 (FTV) For some reason I remembered the Hostel series as a straight torture porn, everyone dies kind of thing. There is a lot of humor in these and a lot more fight, and survival, by the intended victims than I remember as well. Hostel 2 is very similar to 1 but this time is three girls as the intended victims and follow a similar path as the first. I like that they started this off with closure on the first one and was a nice touch to carry over the same dorky check-in clerk. Compared to most of the movies I saw this month this is a very well crafted movie.

This movie has -
A blood bath
Short electrical cords
A bad husband
Double emasculation

4 castrated Zombies

Cabo’s 2014Octoberfest movies

1- Dead before Dawn (FTV) .5 Pathetically Bad Zombies

2- Piranha 2010 4 Swimming Zombies

3- Screamers – the hunting (FTV) 3 Walking Dead, Laurie look alike Zombies

4- AFFLICTED (FTV) 2 One night standregretting Zombies

7- Friday the 13th Part 8, Jason takes Manhattan(FTV) 3 Kane Hodder Zombies

8- The Quiet Ones (FTV) 3 Zombies armed with hair pins

9- Brotherhood of the Wolf (FTV) 2.75 Frenchy Zombies

Love this thread and have been watching as many movies as I can this month, got maybe 10-15 in so far and was wanting to end it off with the original Halloween tonight.

Thing is I have my 14 year old with me this weekend and cant remember much about the movie so just wanted to ask if this was something okay for a 14 year old ?

So far with him we have watched Nightmare on Elm Street, Flatliners, Dark Skies, and The Hole.

Happy Halloween everyone! One more movie to go tonight, here are my reviews for the last two days:

29. The Taking of Deborah Logan (FTV)
A woman suffering an aggressive case of Alzheimer's allows filmmakers to film her gradual mental degradation, but the film crew realizes something much more strange is happening and must uncover a deadly mystery. One of the best of the faux documentary horror films to date, the horror is threefold: the disturbing slippage of a woman's mind, the devastating effect it has on her loved ones, and the evil presence that begins to fill the void. Jill Larson gives an amazing and fearless performance as a genteel old lady who is slowly losing her grip on reality. She is at times sweet and kindly, but her eyes can suddenly take on a haunting and hateful menace, her delicate skeletal body is painfully human yet skin-crawlingly horrible. If you have any fear of the ravages of age and losing your mental faculties, this film could be a tough watch, but there's a compelling mystery at its core as well. The final scenes have images that are still burned into my mind.

4 out of 5 stars.

30. The Den (FTV)
A grad student dong a thesis on live video chat rooms discovers murder and more. This was an above-average entry to the increasingly crowded found footage horror genre. Some of the scenes pushed credulity in terms of who would actually keep filming during the circumstances, but the ending and rationale behind everything was chilling because it felt very true.

3.5 out of 5 stars.

29. Deliver Us From Evil (2014)- {3.25/5} Blu-ray (FTV) Similar to a previous review, this movie was inconsistent. They tried to fit too many elements into the story and that made the whole thing a little watered down and drawn out. That's the bad stuff. The good is that the home theater presentation was comparable to the Evil Dead remake. The surround mix and awesome visuals were very cool to experience. Our entire group agreed that it was still an enjoyable movie to watch and it does warrant a recommendation to others simply because it's quite a bit different from anything I've seen before.

Hostel 1 and 2 combo Blu-ray for like $5 was a great buy. Both movies are very well done.

It sucks that another Horrorfest is nearing its end. Love the tradition here as well and we plan to extend things out a little and keeping it rolling through the weekend.

Personally, I don't think its any more intense than those you mentioned. If NOES and Dark Skies were okay, then I say go for it. There is some nudity in Halloween if I recall, so keep that in mind.

I have The Babadook waiting on my DVR for tonight. Very excited. Not sure what I'm pairing it with just yet though. I know Trick r Treat is gonna be one for sure as it is a household favorite. But we may do a triple feature and I haven't decided on that last one yet. Probably a toss up between RZ's Halloween or HOTC. The Shining and The Exorcist came up in the discussion as well. Can't go wrong whichever way we go so no worries.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!!!

"Snowpiercer" was good, it is mainly an allegory about society. Four frozen protein bars.

I may splurge on "LFO" tonight to finish off this month. I have a bunch of non-horror in my NF queue to watch.

For dchabby, Fire in the Sky might be another good one since Dark Skies is being considered. Or Poltergeist is good for scares as well!

Happy Halloween

Got my pumpkin carved. Yes, I know it looks like a 2 year old carved it. But hey, it's ready to rock n roll all nite and party every day. Gonna stay home and sneak hand out candy. Play the new drinking game. Every time Elsa comes to your door take a drink.

Spoiler!

I saw 80 Elsa's last night, 99 Batmans, 73 Optimus Primes, 61 Captain Americas, 54 Iron Mans, 1 sorority house full of minions, and my Ice King probably could have gotten laid in 3 different sorority house. Too bad I'm too old. Ice King got serious game with college girls.

I decorated the courtyard of my house with all sorts of stuff. Got a 1000w fog machine, two 48" blacklights, two strobe lights, some yellow and orange colored lights and some spooky music from some outdoor speakers. Oh and some glow in the dark webs that should react to the blacklights. Then some tombstones out front in the yard. The courtyard fills up with fog real good and it comes out the front and as far out into the street. Gives the whole area a creepy graveyard vibe.

Carved some pumpkins with my girlfriend last night while watching Lost Boys. Good times. I'll see about getting some pics if you guys are interested.

Need some advice fellas. I've had Oculus at my house for over two weeks, but just haven't found the right time to watch it. For Halloween, I like to keep things 100% legit. Is Oculus worthy of a Halloween watch or should I stick with a proven favorite to go with Babadook and Trick r Treat?

The courtyard fills up with fog real good and it comes out the front and as far out into the street. Gives the whole area a creepy graveyard vibe.

Carved some pumpkins with my girlfriend last night while watching Lost Boys. Good times. I'll see about getting some pics if you guys are interested.

Sounds awesome. Pics please!

I watched it about 3 times now and it falls in the like pile, wife enjoyed it. For sure worth a watch but not TrT level.

I also have Oculus waiting to be watched so I'd like to know as well.

Edit: Looks like I need to refresh the page more often, sorry for being late.

Saw it with my girl and we both loved it. I would recommend it for a good horror movie. Halloween themed? Not necessarily.

If it rains tonight I'm going with Sleepy Hallow to round out the month.

I'll see about getting some shots of the stuff. Might be too dark tonight but I'll try.

Already snuck a couple of Kit Kats. Lol. I tell you, between those and Twix... resistance is futile. Although not Halloweened theme, may try and take the Mrs. to see John Wick later tonight. All depends on how many Elsa's we see tonight.

John Wick was excellent! I might go see it again. We need more movies like it to exist.

Yeah, I'm stealing all the Milky Way bars and Starburst. Maybe the Twix too.
