Need some help,guys,my failing memory has left me blank.Looking for a Spanish movie from the early to mid 90's about a haunted orphanage,takes place during WW1.I believe it was a Cannes award winner.

Kinda sounds like you're talking about Pan's Labyrinth. But that came out in '06.

I noted at the end that the credits were shown as 2:35:1 which is how the 2014 version of "The Town that Dreaded Sundown" was filmed but cropped to 1:77:1 on Netflix. Otherwise the film was worth a watch.
