Four walkie-talkies for "Animal". Finally someone spent some money on a production.

I can't help but wonder if there's an unrated cut. That was what was lacking on my view, not enough blood, guts, etc.

Watched Rare Exports: A Christmas Tale last night. Not bad. Different take. Since I'm always on the nice list I have no worries.

These kids need a beast to scare them, in my day we had Commies and Tammy Faye Bakker. Today? Nothing. Darwinism is too slow.

Speaking of Darwinism, just sent my kid to the Galápagos Islands. Told him to bring me home an iguana.

BTW - Has anyone see "It Follows" yet? Trailer looked scary and so far is getting solid reviews!

\ "It Follows" Saw it, should be called "It Blows" It has three main problems no real suspense ( not counting the fake suspense provided by a bad neo-Carpenter electronic score), not scary, not really bloody. In otherwords not much of a horror film. Story had some interesting ideas but by time something really seems to happen must of us would had "Oinked" it. Not recommended

Watched Animal last night. Not to be confused with the Def Leppard song of the same name. I like creature features and this was pretty good. I think it was Darth who said there was really no human to root for. I agree with that. The audio was well done. With nice guttural LFE from the beast and excellent use of surrounds. Created a creepy atmosphere.

We were joking about this at work, someone said "Sharknado" and I answered: "One,Two, or Three ?" (I had no idea there really was a third one ).

I watched Muck last night. I thought it was pretty good but it had some flaws. One for the October pile.

This is the middle part of a three-film story. It opens with five friends emerging from a marsh after an unknown horrifying event. They are cold, wet and frightened, and two members of their original party are missing. They find an unoccupied vacation home and decide to break in. They soon discover they haven't escaped danger and must choose to stay and fight or return to the marsh and take their chances.

All of the special effects are practical. I don't know if that's a good thing or not. Most of the effects looked good but there was an obvious mistake that I noticed. One scene shows a person being thrown through a wall and you can clearly see the Dow logo printed on the foam sheathing that was put in place of studs and drywall.

They managed to shoot it in 4K Ultra HD on a $250,000 budget. Since 4K Blu-ray players won't be available until late 2015 this Blu-ray is 1080p on a standard 25GB single layer disc. No extras are included on the disc.

Wikipedia states: "Despite the micro budget, Muck was shot completely on Red Epic in 4K Ultra HD. The film has a unique look and texture thanks to its being colored and conformed from a finished 4K master in DaVinci Blackmagic, courtesy of Blacklist Digital."
I watched it on a 50" Panasonic plasma and didn't notice a unique look or texture. It was shot entirely at night so the outdoor scenes and many of the indoor scenes are dark. If difficult to see what's going on is the look and texture they were going for, they nailed it.

'Maggie' looks great for a PG13 horror movie with the former Guvnah Arnold!

I wouldn't call it great, more like pretty good B horror. Actually it's B&B horror (boobs and blood).

It's already up on Vudu. You can watch the first two minutes for free or rent the whole movie in HD/HDX for $4.99, SD for $3.99. I spent $12.99 on the Blu ray at Best Buy.
