I got in the first half of Automata last night. Looks to be more scifi than horror, but is starting out decent.
We have a tournament this weekend too. Starting waaaaay too early Saturday morning. Ugh! And I'm coming down with a wicked cold courtesy of my youngest. Kids are walking petri dishes.

Automata was ok. The Daredevil series is so much better.

Automata is just fine if you dig Cherry 2000 but Daredevil is really solid TV.

Checked out BABADOOK this afternoon. Not bad, not great. Too long in getting going for me, no gore, spooky at times though. Worth a watch, but it didnt thrill me.

Tell me about it! I think my body enjoyed the L.A. smog more than all of this green allergy ish! We buy that Allertec stuff all the time and it works as long as I take it right when winter is ending. Last night I took 1000mg of motrin on top of the 24hr allertec. I use a dust mask every time I mow the lawn because the allergens are so bad in Cincy.

Yeah steve I think you will enjoy DareDevil. I finished the second episode and it was pretty good! Great action and story telling in this series!

I watched REC 4: Apocalypse the other day. It was pretty good but I still like 1 & 2 better. One for the October pile.

Well it is Marvel, they have a horde of d**k riders in the basement at mom's house that are easily dazzled by shiny stuff BUT Daredevil is a super solid show. It's got a dark edge and the fights are dabes.

The Marvel Productions stuff is light years ahead of any superhero movie we got before they came on the scene with the possible exception of the first two Chris Nolan Bats films.

You say people like them because they are shiney and new? I say people like then because it was the first time super heroes were done properly on the big screen.

Mostly true but it doesn't mean that they don't have a horde of blind followers defending just ok stuff. Just ok is fine (it really is) but being honest about it is ok too. I think the Capt America stuff is fantastic and the best they've done up to GotG. The rest are just ok like the Transformer series. It's like Whedon being endlessly paraded around as the king but he's only really done a couple things that are really good but don't you dare say it. Just my opinion is all, not a personal attack.

This is how I feel and I guess I just didn't get 'it' when I watched the Avengers when it came out on BD. The film just felt awkward and it could have been a better job. Now I am a comic geek/fan and am excited when these films come out. GotG was huge risk for Disney/Marvel and that movie just came off better for me (imo) than the Avengers. James Gunn definitely had the pulse of the story/characters. Maybe Age of Ultron will be better and I am glad they are exploring some new characters for upcoming films.

I just read that Joss/and the production company that made The Cabin in the Woods is being sued by a guy that wrote a horror book (A Little White Trip: A Night in the Pines) years before the film and is accusing Joss/movie production house plagiarizing the book! I haven't read the book in question but I had a fried that did and he says there are parts that are ripped from the book directly. That will be a hard thing to get over in court but who knows what will happen.

I recently started watching Outlaw Star which predates Firefly and there are some striking similarities but that does occur in fiction pretty often.

As someone also mentioned elsewhere things don't really get going on "Daredevil" until episode 4. "The Canal" has also been added to Netflix WI.

I really haven't seen much by Whedon. Never watched Firefly, Buffy, Angel, Cabin in the Woods...etc. I have seen Serenity and Avengers and enjoyed them both. I guess I don't get the Marvel hate. I like them all. Some more than others sure. What's your guys ranking of the MCU movies?

As of now this is my ranking:

Captain America: The Winter Soldier
The Avengers
Guardians of the Galaxy
Iron Man
Captain America: The First Avenger
Thor
Iron Man 2
The Incredible Hulk
Thor: The Dark World
Iron Man 3

If Marvel does a Howard the Duck it will move to position 2 in my list further pushing Iron Man down to Go-Bot level.

http://www.allflicks.net/netflix-randomizer/

Netflix Randomizer. Horror Roulette. Set the genre to horror, spin the wheel, watch what it chooses and report back. Idea stolen from Reddit. Obviously if you've seen it skip it and some aren't on instant so spin again.

After 5 spins I got "To Catch A Virgin Ghost."

Watched Preservation last night, not terrible. It's basically some Call of Duty Xbox Live kids hunting humans in the woods until that one human decides to fight back. Solid 3 star B flick.
