Just curious, what streaming devices and services to people here use? I use Roku and Samsung devices with Netflix. I have a Vudu account but I only use that to keep track of my UltraViolet titles. I also use Plex to stream my 30TB media collection to my devices and share with my family.

Roku with Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, and Plex. We use Vudu also. I get codes from my mom when she buys a disc.

PS3 for Netflix,Amazon and Vudu. Rarely use the smart apps on my Samsung. Very slow and glichy.

I just started streaming and have been using Amazon Fire TV.
Very simple to use (thank you, keenan).
FWIW, I am impressed and satisfied with the hardware.

That's interesting. I don't have smart TVs but the apps on my Samsung Blu-ray players work very well.

I've been thinking about trying one of those. Do you have the box or stick?

The box.
However, at a later date I may add a stick.

It's an extremely simple thing to use (even I can do it!).
All you need to do is plug it into a wall socket and attach it to your network.
It has a quad-core processor and a Voice Search that is amazingly good.

Watched The Age of Dinosaurs starring Treat Williams and Ronny Cox. Wasn't half bad. Getting the dino juices flowing for JP4.

I had the stick when it was like 20 bucks and quickly put a Roku in its place. Nice GUI but Plex was terrible.

I have a Sony S1200 BD player I use for streaming. It's my third Sony player. The first one, the 300 did not have any streaming. Next I got a Samsung 5500 for streaming but wanted Amazon and so got a Sony 480 a couple years later. That unit started acting flaky last fall so got the entry level S1200 which is Ethernet only but I've always had a cable going to the theater system. The Sony 300 player was the only one I paid for as the other two were rewards freebies.

The other experiment was with Chromecast which started out working OK but performance gradually degraded. Being a wifi device and having U-Verse the signal just wasn't strong enough to reach the Chromecast to be reliable. Then there is the problem of Android devices staying connected as a controller while watching. I tried two range extenders but those actually slow down the stream. An access point provides a strong signal and it's about 6 feet from the Chromecast but it is really hard to get it to use that signal. At some point I may add a Roku with Ethernet as I put a switcher on the line coming into the living room.

I think the problem with my house is the insulation is most likely foil lined and reduces the wifi signals. Plus U-Verse gateways aren't known for their power though it is set at max.

I still have the Samsung because it can play foreign All Region BDs.

This could be good, the parent company of AMC is also the parent company of IFC channel. IFC has become a pretty good source of smaller budget horror flicks. I'll give this a spin and sign up.

Apple TV and a Roku, and a Tivo Premiere 2 tuner. Netflix can run on all 3, Amazon Prime can run on the Tivo and the Roku, the Roku also takes care of the Sling TV and Warner Archive.
The Apple TV also takes care of the HBO now and Hulu plus, as well as the NHL Game Center Live when in season.
I don't use VUDU but have 3 devices that can handle it. A lot of people dump on the Hulu plus but I am always find things being added without much fanfare.

Sure you can, first it has to be really dark, you need a really big shell and lastly your projector needs to have a convex-reverse anamorphic lens. NOTE: I never said this makes sense...
