Damn, well it always sucks to go to the hospital but at least it wasn't anything super bad.

The mind is an amazing thing. Watching Crimson Peak last night, something seems familiar about it? The acting, the tone, the feel. For some reason Wuthering Heights pops into my head. I think I saw this on TV when I was 6? Black and white. Sure enough, I google it and there was some influence, according to GDT. Yeah, so there you go.

Thanks for the insight. Budget is undetermined. I'm still in the idea stage and haven't done any real pricing research yet. I do know that as of last month, my Charger was paid off.....so there's a chunk of change available for me to play with. Obviously separates are gonna be significantly more expensive than a new receiver, but I would really hate to get a new Denon and then regret that I didn't leap into the separates realm when I had the chance.

I currently have Aperion speakers. Across the front, I have their 6T line and I believe they are 91db and are able to handle 300 watts. Yours are 98db sensitivity?? Yikes. Talk about efficient. Anyway, you bring up an interesting question that is also part of my little dilemma. Not sure if anybody in this particular thread of AVS has experience with Aperion (maybe the Oregon folks), but I'm a big fan of their stuff. Their Verus line has definitely caught my attention, but that is probably going to have to wait for my next major upgrade. I've also heard great things about GoldenEar so that might be an option as well when the time comes. Eventually, I would really love to have a dedicated HT which complicates things when it comes to a speaker upgrade as I would likely opt for built in speakers at that point. Thanks for your input.

I had the Aperion 6C's across my fronts. 6C's were replaced by their Verus line. Their showroom is not too far from my office. I ended up selling them because I was still looking for more oomph, and for the money, I could make what I wanted. Aperion makes a fine speaker and the gloss black finish was beautiful. But, since they were not being seen I figured I could get away with a diy finish - even though I am happy with the way mine turned out.

OK. Final recommendation for Until Dawn. Any PS4 owning horror fan owes it to themselves.

Great audio and video coupled with the right level of b movie slasher/creature feature tropes make it a winner. It's not too long, I clocked in at 12 hours, but the choose your own adventure style lends it to a few replays. Apparently there are a lot of endings. There were a ton of choices along the way and places to explore. The exploration angle serves as the primary method to build tension between cutscenes. Some of those you control with dialogue and others with the quick time events. The fantastic setup includes a group of teens out to party in a place with a twisted history. It plays with straight revenge thriller all the way up to the supernatural.

Highly recommended. I hope they make some more.

Yep, a lot of praise for both speaker lines by reviewers. I'm not this guy, but it did briefly cross my mind that I could just order a pair of Verus bookshelf speakers just to sample their sound and then return them. Of course, it would be for the purpose of deciding if I wanted them in the future, but I don't think I could pull a move like that.

For sure, it's a trope of the genre so you know what to expect. Meathead, geek, b-word girl, jealous ex lovers, creepy old guy living in the woods, etc. It's more the way the story unfolds and how you interact with it than what the story actually is, the story is good though. As I finished it I had that feeling of surprise after seeing a really good slasher/creature feature. I can't see where anyone here would hate it unless they are allergic to video games.

After I make my morning protein shake, I just rinse out the pitcher and throw in the ingredients, spin, and chill....perfect for mid-afternoon refreshments.

Hopefully Kevin Smith's portion of this anthology is better than Tusk. Otherwise looks pretty good.

Most of his films lack screenplay refinement and often come off as a little clunky.

Totally. I like the standard setups. Teenagers in the woods, eclectic group of strangers banding together...From there, execution/talent/vision has to step in to make it "real". Which is why I like writer/director combos as usually they really get the story and have a little more passion to drive the production.

Guys, Ti West's new movie isn't a horror but is getting some super good reviews. Can't find a trailer yet. In a Valley of Violence has Ethan Hawke, John Travolta, and the girl that ruined Doctor Who along with Matt Smith.

Smith doesn't like to deal with big budgets. With big budgets expectations are high with the studio breathing down your neck. He likes to do smaller budget projects his way. I like that. He explained this all on the extras for Tusk.

Not horror but I thought sorta horrible was Netflix's "Flaked" with Will Arnett. Wasted 10 minutes on it before I "oinked it". It was like watching grass grow.

There's always Green Beer for Thursday unless some of you think it is sacrilegious.
