When it rains, it pours. Sorry to hear about your mum. Glad she's doing ok. I remember watching Millennium when it originally aired on tv. Good stuff.

Yes. Not terrible but TV limited what they could go into vs the book. I'm hoping the new version goes all out.

Watched Hardcore Henry last night. That movie is nuts. Took me awhile to get into their schtick but overall I enjoyed it. The rum might have helped too. That final battle was off the charts.

Thanks man!

I think I need Hardcore Henry in my life today so I will be picking that up at RB!

One thing about King's tv adaptions is they were usually a miniseries taking place over 3 nights vs a typical 2 hour movie. And while you're limited by the tv rules, I find the miniseries format allows much greater character development and depth. I enjoyed almost all of King's tv movies. Even The Langoliers.

Hardcore Henry is nonstop. Once you get used to the first person perspective, sit back and enjoy the mayhem and carnage. The audio is crazy too. There's gun fire taking place all around you.

Watched some movies this past week.

Watched a Turkish horror movie called Baskin. Jeez, pretty crazy stuff. Heard some people walked out of the theater near the end because it was too much.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt4935418/

Also watched Summer Camp. Thought it was pretty fun.

Watched The Mind's Eye. It was alright. However, right at the beginning of the movie there was a written message saying "This film should be played LOUD." Thought that was cool.

Re-watched Cloverfield (2008). Watched it around -8 dB on my volume control. Shook the room.

Re-watched Aliens (1986) Special Edition. I think this is my first time watching the whole movie from start to finish. Previously it was just bits and peaces. Great stuff.

Today I just got back from watching Don't Breathe. Thought it was fun and tense. Want to re-watch it alone at home to get the real tension and immersion going while cranking the sound.

The two new Netflix horror offerings yesterday are both Argentine films. "Resurrection" which I watched last night is just classic and excellent supernatural horror. Four creaky stairs.

http://www.netflix.com/title/80115348

I will also highly recommend trying Trader Joe's "Bollywood Popcorn". No bacon in it and it is vegan probably because tikka masala sauce would usually have yogurt in it and that wouldn't work too well on popcorn without adding the dreaded MSG.

Hardcore Henry is on my list to get to soon.

Not horror, but I think many here could enjoy The Brother's Grimsby. It had me squirming more than most torture porn movies but also had some insanely funny moments as well, which is nice.

"Necrofobia" may be a bit artsy for some folks here. Looked like it was based on a graphic novel and plays like a made for premium channel movie and a it "Twilight Zone". Three scissors.

Some of you may have already seen "Inbred", a UK gorefest. It's available on Hulu. Three and a half carrots.

Also signed and lit a candle. Folks, please take care of your health.

"The Invitation" is a thriller with a cult theme that kinda reminds me of "The Purge" for some reason. Available on Netflix. Four bottles of Rothschild 1985.

Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell is on Netflix. It's sort of an alternative history fantasy based on magic. Like maybe Harry Potter meets Downton Abbey. More magic than GoT but less whimsy than Potter if that makes sense. Also sports great sets and costumes. It's a real looker.

Went to see Don't Breathe with my daughter yesterday. The movie's great, with a few twists that I didn't see coming. After Evil Dead, Fede Alvarez is becoming a favorite of mine in this genre. The soundtrack was amazing, blending music and sound effects - very effective. No cheap scares either. I'll purchase this one on day 1 and my sub will love it!

Hey everyone, long time no talk! With it being the end of August now, I have already begun my annual planning for what movies I will watch in October this year. As usual, I have an impossibly long list of movies to pick from (although a lot of them are old 'B' movies lol) and unfortunately have to narrow it down to a maximum of about fifteen because of work and other commitments that eat into my time. Usually any horror movies that I have recorded on my PVR will get watched for sure so that I can free up hard drive space. Also I do plan to have a sort of "franchise day" as I usually do every year and this is where I/we watch movies from a certain series all day and cook something in the slow cooker and just have a good fun day. I have to pick from one of these possibilities:

Amityville Horror 1, 2, 3, and remake of original movie
Hammer Horror Collection
Boris Karloff Collection
Saw series
Halloween series (at least the first five)
Final Destination series (1-5)
Psycho 1, 2, 3, 4, and Bates Motel
Friday the 13th (again at least the first five)
Paranormal Activity series
Texas Chainsaw Massacre series (if I can get my hands on the 1974 original before October)
Jaws series
Children of the Corn series

Last year I watched all seven of the Nightmare On Elm Street movies, and I recall watching my Exorcist Blu-ray box set the year prior. Good times for sure!

Hope all of you are doing well. Have any of you begun your planning for October?
