Nope.

Side note, there seems to be a drought on Netflix for movies. They keep suggesting Bollywood stuff despite the fact that I've never watched any there or rated it. Oh well I'll pick back up on The Americans.

Dr. Who and Frankenstein..No not vs.
New Dr.Who's and it's the new spin-off Class premiere on BBC America on Sat. night. Set your DVR's.
And now Frankenstein...
Found this on deadline...

Officer Downe was a fun movie. If stuff like Kung Fury and Turbo Kid are to your liking check it out. It does have a harder edge over those two however.

I watched "Abattoir" on Netflix last night. I think some of you have already seen it. Not a bad horror film which gets really going in the third act. Pitchfork up.

It watched a little of "Horror Story" yesterday and will reserve it for a "slumming watch". It's a Bollywood horror film which some are good but this was a little like textbook filmmaking if using a textbook from the 1970s. Just no imagination.

My nearly six year old girl sat through Alien today. I did some fake outs on the real gory stuff like "hand me the remote" on the chest burster scene. She acknowledged it was scary and gross and liked the "boss lady."

A copy came with my LG BD burner which was OEM and not supposed to include any software but there was a disc. It's an "upsale version" of course.

"Happy Birthday" is sort of a thriller/dark comedy I watched last night on Hulu some of you might like. It's a "Hollywood Indie" about a guy whose buddy takes him on a "psychedelic vacation" in Mexico where things go awry.

With the PC being more of a media center now it made sense. I know the effects it applies are frowned upon but it made some old over compressed rips look great and the Rogue One I recently did as well.

After watching "Happy Birthday" on Hulu the other night I watched a little of the "You might also like" list "Dead End" which is NOT the one listed on IMDB. I finished watching it last night and it's a product of a local SF Bay Area production company. However even with flat acting it worked mainly because the dialog was written well enough to keep things moving plus these kinds of films can be dreadful if the cinematography and editing aren't very good. Both were good an especially I would credit the editing for moving things along. So if you want to check out this low budget effort:

Actually had some good chills in it.

I finally pulled the trigger last week and bought the Halloween 3 soundtrack on vinyl! This album sounds fantastic! Seller also threw in a sealed Cannibal Apocalypse soundtrack with the H3 purchase!

Hey guys, just got back from vacation. The night before my flight I watched "We Go On", and I loved this movie!

Here's the setup: A man who has a paralyzing fear of death places an ad offering $30,000 to the first person who can offer him absolute solid evidence of life after death. Naturally, lots of weirdos and charlatans come out of the woodwork offering "evidence" but he narrows it down to the most compelling ones. Joined by his skeptical mother, the man follows up on the most promising leads one at a time, but soon gets in way over his head.

Directed by the guys who directed creepy weird-out Blair Witch wannabe "yellowbrickroad", "We Go On" is refreshing, fun, at times darkly humorous, occasionally genuinely scary, and has a great high concept. This doesn't feel like a contemporary horror movie, it's truly in a league of its own, and has an organic, homemade feel to it that most modern horror seems to lack. Occasionally it stumbles and is uneven, a problem that yellowbrickroad had as well, but it's never boring or dreary. In fact I want to watch it again already, which I can't say for many new horror films.

Agreed. I shared a similar impression a few weeks ago. It's definitely one that begs for a re-watch. Check it out folks.

Edit: Just got back from vacation myself. Man, it was nice to forget about work for awhile. Hope you had a great time!

Had to get used to "a day without the Internet" yesterday as mine went out a little after 9 AM. AT&T said they couldn't get anyone out until today but actually a tech showed up a little after 6 PM last night and had the crane to go work on the pole which he said the problem was. Turned out that one of the cables down the road was damaged due to our recent storms and they had even installed a new cable which had not been spliced in yet. Also found out that from the node which is a block away to here is copper.

Comcast has been screwy the past few days here in MN. I don't think ours was equipment related though.

Watched Blair Witch and Deepwater Horizon few days ago. Had seen both in the theaters but first time watching them at home on my "real" home theater. Great stuff. Both movies had great audio. Too bad I couldn't crank Blair Witch as loud as I would have liked as it was a late night play through.

Other than that, I watched Rings and Get Out today. Dozed off several times during Rings so I missed quite a bit. However, based on what I saw, I don't think it is up to the level of the other two movies. Will have to re-watch.

Get Out was awesome. Pretty weird stuff. Recommended.

Rings is different than the first two. It is creepy on it's own, try it again some time. Get Out will keep you awake in more than one way.

I have some movies on the dvr. Death Race (remake), Species and some other stuff. I am beat from detailing my truck. Days like this I miss my smaller cars.

Watching the Laci Peterson special and man that Scott dude was slick/sick! He did that murder (imo) but I think he almost got away with it. Amber Fry was probably next because that dude was a serial killer in the making! Nuts and I remember coming back from Sacramento visiting family when Scott was arrested.

M is on a roll, two fantastic flicks in a row. The comic book super hero nerds are going to lose their s**t when they put on their big boy pants and watch a "scary" movie.
