I looked through dozens of films of that era and about the only way I may be able to figure out what the film was would be to make a visit to the Seattle main library and look through the microfilm of newspaper movie ads of that time. The setting was the US so it wasn't Italian horror and the lead actress was famous.
Was it by chance "The Psychic"? This was also a 1977 horror movie but it was Italian but used non-Italian actors in the leads.

Blood Mania (1970) - It's not a bad story but it's hard to call this one a horror movie. I have no idea how they came up with the title since there's not a drop of blood seen until about the last 10 minutes of the movie. A girl helps her sick father get to the grave a little sooner so she can start spending her inheritance. She discovers dear old dad left just about everything to her sister, so she goes after her next.

Don't know if this has been posted, but a reminder wouldn't hurt anyway. Stranger Things Season 2 starts on the 27th.

Oh, and Creep 2 is being released on digital platforms on the 24th.

Has anyone seen the IFC Midnight flick Killing Ground?

23. Beetlejuice
Recently deceased couple get help from the titular "bio-exorcist" in ridding their home's pesky new owners. Beetlejuice was unleashed on an unsuspecting world before Tim Burton was making "Tim Burton" films, and people didn't know what to make of this colorful, spooky, funny and downright weird little movie when it was released way back in 1988. But thank goodness it all worked out, as this remains one of my favorite Tim Burton films for just those very reasons. Michael Keaton doesn't even show up until fairly deep into the film, but it hardly matters, we're too entranced with the sights and sounds coming from the screen. I love the hokey pre-CGI stop motion effects and the visible wires when people float. Remember sandworms on Saturn? Wynona Ryder's kooky hats? Geena Davis' shaggy hair, buggy eyes and no plastic surgery yet? And when Alec Baldwin was a harmlessly handsome yuppie? I watched this one with my daughter who was seeing it for the very first time, and she loved it too. Hmm, wonder if I can dig up a Handbook for the Recently Deceased on eBay...?

4 out of 5 stars.

Haven't seen the first two yet. The restored American Werewolf is a step up in quality from the original transfer. But it's not a flawless HD transfer. Some scenes in the beginning look rather soft. And the black levels are noticeably elevated in some of the darker scenes.

There are a couple other movies I've been eyeing which are still beyond my budget, including Shin Godzilla, Justice League Dark. and this 2014 version of Beauty & the Beast...

King Arthur, Kong Skull Island, and Underworld have all jumped back up in a price.
I still have my HDDVD copy, is the transfer a upgrade worth double dipping?
