Do you count the song that was #1 on the date immediately before you were born, or the date immediately after? If the Hot 100 list comes out on Saturday, and you're born on Tuesday, is your #1 song the last one that was announced before your birth, or the song that was apparently a hit the week of your birth and announced the following Saturday?

If you use the date after your birth, then mine would be "TSOP (The Sound of Philadelphia)" by MFSB and The Three Degrees. Never heard of it or the group(s). According to Wikipedia, it was the theme song to Soul Train (!). Dear lord...

If we use the date before the birth, I could claim "Bennie and the Jets."

16 Tons, Tennessee Ernie Ford.

The number one in America when i was born late September was from this group ---- Archies - Sugar, Sugar.

I have to say i have never heard of them.

MAN! I remember cutting that record off the back of a cereal box! Not surprisingly enough, it was box of Sugar Smacks. Yeah, that's right SUGAR Smacks! Not wimpy re-named politically correct Honey Smacks. That's right you little whipper snappers...we had a sugar coma every Saturday morning, and we were PROUD of it.
