There are also the rumors that JJ used to inject him with with growth stunting hormones to keep his voice high as a child. Not out of the realm of truth.

There's really no such thing. Years ago young girls were given estrogen to accelerate puberty in an effort to stunt their growth if it was "predicted" they would be growing very tall. Wouldn't do the same thing in a young male. MJ didn't have boobs.

I heard on the radio this morning that the people who bought the concert tickets have the option for a refund or to keep there ticket which will be valuable in years to come. But it depends on how many people keep there tickets if there is too many there not going to be worth that much.

What a clever and crass move by the promoters, talk about free $$$!!!
Unless there was < 1,000 tickets sold, there is no way those tickets would be worth big money for at least 20 200 years.

He still had it! Which makes his death even more depressing.

It was obvious his body was starting to feel that big five - O.
His timing was a little off too, but he was giving it what he could.

My last comment on the subject that is MJ and I will leave it at that...

I mentioned that I did not have any DVD's of Michael and with his passing, I ordered three....

It's been many years and I remember watching just the one time but on the History 2 DVD the complete 1995 MTV MJ performance is on the disk.

This has to be the best ever performance of any individual or group ever. Unbelievable.... This disc is worth it just for this ten minute or so performance...

There are two moments on the disc that says it all. Janet Jackson staring at Mike and shaking her head in disbelief and not as a sister but as a fan...

And the pan on daughter Presley during the performance of "You are not alone". During that one brief shot on her you could see the true love in her eyes...Maybe it wasn't a stunt? You could not act this look in her face.

Anyway, that 1995 performance on History 2 is the best recorded sequence ever from MTV. Glad the disk showed up today and I got to relive that opening that has been buried in my mind for 14 years...

Pick the disk up if you can. Video quality for a non-blu-ray disk is superb..
That MTV performance can never be matched.

That's it...really. Thanks MJ.

CETA1,
I agree. That performance is incredible. I've actually watched that DVD atleast 100 times. I bought it around 2002, and I still get excited everythime I watch it. Watching him perform just makes you want to move. It's infectious.

Reading your comments makes me want to go buy History asap. Right now.

Have you read Lisa Marie Presley's comments on her blog? It was a bizarre relationship for sure, but a stunt, I don't think so. Anyway, read it, you'll see.

It was a bit long at times. You could feel both sides: the legend, and the man. When his daughter spoke, it was the shortest but the most heartwrenching moment.

Check out these posts on another board from a producer that worked with Michael:

Of particular interest to me was a peak into Michael's involvement in the songwriting process:

Quote:
One morning MJ came in with a new song he had written overnight. We called in a guitar player, and Michael sang every note of every chord to him. "here's the first chord first note, second note, third note. Here's the second chord first note, second note, third note", etc., etc. We then witnessed him giving the most heartfelt and profound vocal performance, live in the control room through an SM57.

He would sing us an entire string arrangement, every part. Steve Porcaro once told me he witnessed MJ doing that with the string section in the room. Had it all in his head, harmony and everything. Not just little eight bar loop ideas. he would actually sing the entire arrangement into a micro-cassette recorder complete with stops and fills.

Interesting info on MJ's songwriting, Jason. Thanks for posting that.

He was a rare talent, to be certain.

Thanks Hicks. He was amazing. If you have the Thriller CD put out a few years ago, at the end, Quincy Jones talks about the making of the album and they even let you hear a couple tracks that were never used.

Indeed, the demo of Billie Jean was really cool to hear too.
