They gotta keep em comin. Before TV, the studios made all of their money from a films theatrical run. Then, TV came along. How to keep em comin? How bout Cinemascope! Todd AO! Cinerama! Why stay at home when we have these incredible widescreen movies to show you? We got color! We got stereo! We got surround sound! We got 3D! A few of us have D-Box! Come to the El Capitan, we got 4D! Home video is keeping people, well, home. We got um... better 3D, and we got it in IMAX! A movie's theatrical run really just wets the appettite for its home video release these days. Then there are the fees for pay channels and networks to air the things. Sure, the 3D pricing is nuts, but the majority of movie goers are seeing something they cannot see at home. That will change soon enough and we'll be bombarded with ads promoting "The Zombie Who Terrorized The Crazies With A Saw At Twilight on Valentines Day", now in Stink O' Rama!" I see an Oscar sweep!
