Trailer released.

http://www.aintitcool.com/node/43027

Hilarious-looking indie comic funnybook hero film (based on the ones by Mark Millar), directed by Matthew Vaughn, and starring McLovin and Nic Cage that garnered HUGE fanfare @ Comic-Con this summer.

I was lucky enough to see 20 minutes of this movie at a convention, and it does indeed look very good. The crowd reaction (most of which were fans of the original comic) was astounding.

Have yet to read the GN. Will do so eventually since I am a huge John Romita Jr. fan.

Won't bother viewing any trailers since I want to go in having viewed no footage.

Hilarious, awesome red-band teaser about just one of the characters in this film gets me even more excited!

Unlike Wanted which was ultra-contraversial as a comic but the film adaptation was weaksauce it looks like Kick-#$$ might actually do the comic justice.

If you’re referring to a 12 year old kid using that kind of language, no doubt about it. Then again, some of that may not make the final cut. If it does, I have to wonder what “consequences” the MPAA will demand for using language that will cause some parents to fall out of their chairs.

BTW, looks like a fun and funny film.

Substitute a grown woman for the child and you have what looks like another over the top, brainless John Woo style action movie. Make it a child however and you have instant shock value. And that alone is supposed to make me giddy over it? That's the vibe I'm getting from that trailer.

Which you are entitled to but based on your comment is unfounded and premature. The comic is great and like Watchmen its a unique take on the superhero genre, except instead of being ultra serious its more of a satircal/comical take.

It's not just the language. It's also the fact that the child graphically murders and/or tortures dozen of men.

I think the movie looks great.

Me too, this looks really great. I hope they dont tone it down in the final theater version, that would ruin it.

John Woo's Hong Kong classics were anything but brainless. It's his Hollywood efforts that suffered (other than Face/off).

Just got back from an advanced screening. This movie was a lot of fun; I definitely recommend it. As far as I can tell, they pull no punches in terms of language and violence in comparison to the unrated trailer (however a few titillating moments seem to end a bit abruptly). If you've read the comics, this is a very good adaptation. And just in case this needs to be said, it is in no way a movie for kids.

Hit girl is only a supporting character in the film. The star is Kick Ass [the guy in the green suit]. Check out some of the other trailers. It comes out on my birthday and I'm going to the first showing. Thank You Lionsgate!!!

I hate that movie so much, it's something that still makes me cringe. Just... so... bad!

PAYCHECK was BLADE-RUNNER in comparison.

Now, I actually think Woo returned to form, somewhat, with RED CLIFF. And that film certainly made a lot of money. Last time I checked it had passed 225 million total for the two films. The budget was 80 million for the entire production.

As for KICK-ASS. It looks like a blast. I do not want to see any more clips or trailers. I'll simply be first in line to see it. Still haven't read the comic book. I'm trying to get the HC at a discounted price. I like getting trades or hardbacks at say 40% off with no shipping costs.

Screened it this morning and I think this will do very well in theaters. Not at all what I expected, but in a very good way. Can't say more until April 16.

There's another "superhero" movie in a similar vein coming out starring Woody Harrelson called Defendor. This one has been sitting in the can since last year, I assume, waiting to be released on the tails of Kick Ass!

Maybe in limited release. But they just released trailers for it again so maybe they're going to re-release it again?
