They won't have a 2D IMAX option, that's for sure.

I screened John Carter in 3D and it was post-production 3D. I really enjoyed it. Great separation and good depth. If The Avengers post-production 3D is as good as John Carter's, I'll be pleased.

[real] IMAX is good because they maintain a certain standard and professionalism. That's why I said I'll see it in IMAX but not otherwise. Good luck trying to find The Avengers in a local multiplex in 2D.

Actually, if the post-production 3D is as good as Captain America, then I'll be happy.

Not necessarily. Bad post-production 3D can ruin a perfectly good movie. The director says the 3d will be "unobjectionable", which I suppose is as good as you can get for a post-production 3D movie these days. At least I don't mind paying extra for it when I'm getting the real IMAX experience.

I missed Captain America. I'll watch it before The Avengers come out, but admittedly, I've never really liked Capt. A. However, I've heard it's a good movie, so I'll be happy to watch it.

Don't miss it. I think it's the best of the pre-Avenger character movies.

Arguably the 1st Iron Man movie is better, but Captain America is a lot of fun. I like it more than Thor at any rate.

I would place the first Iron Man as a close second. Both are very good!

Interesting but I have no patience for that. I'd rather just see The Avengers in Imax 3D by itself and be done with it.

No patience here either. Especially since I don't like the Iron Man movies. I want those glasses though and will have them.

What good are the glasses except for when you see a RealD 3D movie? Don't they give you a pair when you go to see a movie anyways?

Personally I think the IMAX experience is better. Although not digital, the 6 story screen and better sound system more than makes up for it. There is also a higher standard of professionalism maintained at my local IMAX theater than at my local 16 Theater multiplex. I get the sense the staff at the multiplex just doesn't give a crap.

Patience is one thing....it would also be the somewhat jarring geek disruption of having Bruce Banner not just turn into Hulk, but also turn from Ed Norton to Mark Ruffalo during the marathon.

At least the Terrence Howard/Don Cheadle switch happens during the lead up and not in the midst of The Avengers itself.

I wonder if IMAX theater workers get a better employee manual to follow? Perhaps they are not hiring every unemployed high school kid that walks in w/ an application?

IMAX definitely has a higher level of professionalism. Just having 1 movie running at a time makes it so much easier for the projectionist to deal with things rather than say, 16. My local IMAX (Jordan's Furniture, Natick, MA) projectionist gave me a tour of the booth a while back and I have to say he really knows his stuff. The IMAX staff really takes pride in their brand.

If you are referring to the different colored glasses in that ad, they would be keep sakes that work with passive TVs for those who are into keep sakes.

...which is the only reason to sit in a theater for 13 hours. The concept is cool, actually sitting through it might be brutal...although I can't wait to watch the Avengers!!

Brutal is the word. Was there a mention of a special price to see all the movies? I guess you only get to pick out one pair of glasses but if I went I would inquire about how I could get one of each.

Easy fix you just have to bring a few empty bottles and a portable potty.

If you were drinking Mountain Dew, you probably wouldn't notice much difference anyway.
