Just saw John Carter at the Wichita Warren IMAX in 3d. (which was a fun flic )
Before the movie they had The Avengers trailer and the 3d had some problems. The action was so fast that it seemed to have a smearing effect. It was really distracting. I didn't see any of this during John Carter and may decide to see it in 2d instead. I think both films are a 3d conversion and maybe the trailer's conversion was rushed, but if The Avengers looks like the trailer I saw, - - It could be a huge problem. I would be surprised if it was the fault of the theater, because the Warren has always been very professional in the quality and execution of every presentation I have attended.
I wonder if anyone else has seen this as well.

I'm sure some will disagree with me, but I can't think of a single Marvel-based movie during the last 10 years that didn't have some redeeming value....

Saw JC in Real3D with Avengers & Spiderman trailers. The trailers looked spectacular in 3D, no smearing or distractions at all. Actually the best 3D I've seen since Avatar & Hugo.

After finally watching the Captain America movie that the fanboys all raved about, and being bored out of my skull by every minute of it, my expectations for this have sunk to an all-time low.

I want Joss Whedon to be successful, but my interest in this particular film is almost non-existent at this point.

I dunno, I liked Captain America quite a bit. It's a typical WWII action movie. If you expect more than that from it you're expecting too much.

That said I don't know what to expect from The Avengers. I'm trying to keep my expectations low as not to be disappointed. At least there's an IMAX transfer of it.

What I wanted was for it not to be so by-the-numbers and boring. That doesn't seem like too much to ask.

Also, I found it utterly ridiculous that they pasted Chris Evans' face onto the scrawny body at the beginning but still had him talk in the deep, gruff, manly Captain America voice. It looked and sounded absurd. He should have spoken in an asthmatic pipsqueak voice to match the body. That took me completely out of the movie.

I like the Iron Man films (more the first than the second), but I suspect they wouldn't be nearly as watchable without Robert Downey, Jr. goofing his way through them.

Haven't seen Thor. I've only seen the first Hulk movie, which was atrocious. Didn't see the reboot.

Spider-Man... bleh. The second is the best of that lot, and it barely rises to the level of mediocre.

Liked the first X-Men. Loved X2. The Last Stand and First Class were both big disappointments. The Origins: Wolverine movie is of course a disaster.

Haven't bothered with the Punisher or Ghost Rider movies. What else am I missing?

Daredevil. Which I like a lot in spite of Bennifer. The only detraction (IMO) is Colin Ferrell.

Thor was cool but could have been better, something was missing and I don't know what exactly, maybe the pacing, I don't know... Hulk....[sigh] I haven't seen Ang Lee's film, only the one with Norton, which I didn't care for. Norton is not 'superhero material' to me. I think Mark Ruffalo could the best in the role so I'm looking forward to it. And since I will always enjoy Robet Downey Jr., I know that somehow, The Avengers won't disappoint, or at least won't disappoint me.

Captain America was pretty weak, I really don't see what there was to like about it... easily forgotten IMO. Iron Man has been my favorite and as much as I thought I would dislike Thor it was pretty good too. Xmen First Class was good but I was let down with the kid that played xavier, he was so great in Wanted but I just wasn't sold on him in First Class. Now Fassbender on the other hand rocked it. I'm not up on why Norton is not playing Hulk but it stinks, he did well in that, better than Bana who I also like but not in that role. I'm wondering if Jeremy Renner will have much screen time or will he be sneaking off to shoot Bourne Legacy

I'm very much looking forward to Avengers but IMO Prometheus > Avengers as far as my excitement/anticipation factor.

I'm very much looking forward to Avengers but IMO Prometheus > Avengers as far as my excitement/anticipation factor.

I liked CA, but mainly due to Joe Johnston trying to capture an Indy Jones-ish vibe in a Marvel flick. Not the best film of last year by a long shot, but I was entertained. I also enjoyed Thor more than I thought I would, despite being the most far out story/concept among a group of films consisting of far out concepts. Making Thor a bit comedic helped the whole Norse Gods as advanced alien beings go down a little smoother, I thought.

I personally really enjoyed First Class - and had no issue with the portrayal of Xavier...or really any of the plot elements that were somewhat out of sync with the previous X Men films. And yes, Fassbender's Magneto deserves his own movie.

As to the Hulk role change, this is what I have gathered from previous reports...

Ed Norton not reprising the Banner role is to be blamed on Marvel..namely Kevin Feige. Reportedly, Feige was concerned about Norton not being a "team player" when it came time to make Avengers. Norton has a reputation, some say rightly deserved - of making lots of suggestions regarding script, story, characters, etc. Some directors enjoy this need for collaborative involvement (his HULK director Louis Letterier reportedly being one of them). Other directors he has worked with have not been so appreciative, hence some seeing Norton as "difficult" or even a diva.

Marvel put major time & budget constraints (well..maybe moreso time than $$) on the Avengers. That should be expected when you announce a locked in release date before the flippin' script has been finished. Feige likely assumed Norton could end up throwing a wrench in the machinery either prior to or during production. The Marvel Studios head was supposedly not all that stoked with Norton's perceived meddling with Incredible Hulk both on set & during the editing process (despite the director welcoming his lead actor's suggestions) & made the judgement call to hire another actor.

Mark Ruffalo is a good actor & I'm sure he will be fine in the Banner role. He also seems to not have the same reputation on set as Norton. And lets face it, this is not the 1st actor swap we've dealt with in Marvel's lead up to this movie -looking @ both of you, Terrence Howard & Don Cheadle. I imagine it'll all work out fine, but I do wish we had Norton in this film, esp since Gen. Ross was paid a visit from Tony Stark @ the behest of Nick Fury @ the end of Hulk.

Money does not buy happiness. It can, however, buy you a giant boat that you can pull up alongside happiness. - David Lee Roth

Yes, as I mentioned in my last post, I thought it was a big disappointment. I really expected and wanted to like that one (I loved the director's previous movie, Kick-Ass), but much like Captain America, it was just too boring and by-the-numbers. I tried it twice, once in theaters and once on Blu-ray, and still don't care for it.
