I am really looking forward to The Avengers. I have been broken of 3D, however, and will seek out a 2D screening. I plan to be there the day it opens. If James Cameron's Avatar sequel is filmed with 3D cameras, I may make an exception to my new rule and see it in 3D IMAX but I am through with postproduction 3D.

I have been a Joss Whedon fan since his Buffy days and the trailers looked good. The film looks promising. It just occurred to me that I will be out of town when it opens on May 4 but I plan to see it the next week.

Here's a cool list of all the IMAXs in the U.S. and whether they're "real" 15/70, digital, etc.

Thanks, I was looking for that page. That confirms that The Avengers is only playing at Digital IMAX theaters also.

I know it is "cool" or "stylish" to reject 3D out-of-hand....
However, I will remain open to the tech.
Whether or not it works for the film in question (or any other), I just don't know.

IMO (and it is just an OPINION), 3D is a tool...and is only only as good as its user (i.e.: Avatar)....

The Avengers may be a kick in 3D...or not, I just don't know.
Unless some of our regular guys (whose opinions I respect) say it "sux," I'll probably spring for the 3D ticket.

Joss Whedon is the MAN! I'm glad the masses finally get a taste of what I've been saying for years since Buffy & Angel, when I was blown away by Whedon's ability to blend genres seamlessly, write witty unique dialogue, to pack a lot of emotional punch and heart when needed. It's nice to see his hard work paying off.

Avengers earns glowing reviews and high praise. As I expected. Of course you can't ever please everyone, but this is great news. http://movies.yahoo.com/blogs/movie-...172544149.html

thats beneath you oink. Some of the harshest critics of Whedon's work are what you would call browncoats. Visit whedonesque sometime and follow the discussion on Cabin in the Woods. Lots of praise but also a lot of negitive comments too. (and most of them are valid, damnit) Being a Joss fanboy is more complicated than you might think

Actually, nothing is beneath me.

You are the only guy I know who MIGHT be a bigger fan of Buffy/Angel than I am.
And I stress: MIGHT.

My complaint with him is some of the praise he has garnered is pure hype IMO.

Serenity/Fireflew?
Simply OK.

Buffy/Angel?
As good as TV gets.

There is a real lack of consistency...IMO.

Never seen Fireflew...was that a prequel to Firefly? Actually my mentor deserves mention if we're talking Buffy fan-take a bow M.

Might be? Hah! And Angel isn't as good as the show it spun off of....

Oh, aren't you AVS's Quipster of the Day! (for those that didn't get it, "flew" is past tense of the verb "fly").
