Lol, this movie looks hilarious.. The Rock and Samuel L Jackson as the two cliche, action-packed badass cops, and Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg as the two dimwitted, under-recognized desk jockey cops. So much room for laughs!

McKay and Ferrell are a good match, even if they miss the mark sometimes (Step Brothers). Mark Walberg is actually a funny guy so I'll enjoy seeing him in this role. Looking forward to Netflixing it.

Another Will Ferrell stinker....

Would someone please tell him and everyone in the industry he is NOT a comic!!!!
SHEESH!

Mr. Ferrell is a comedian.
He needs WRITTEN material to be amusing.
He is not someone gifted in the art of comical ad-libbing.

In spite of there being some potential in the screenplay, Ferrell brings the entire proceedings to a screeching and very uncomfortable stop.

This movie joins all of the others he has destroyed with his "hilarious" ad-libs.

Agree - I hit the Ol' Command Delete on this one after 15 minutes.

This movie overall I would not recommend but that part with Ferrell re-telling when he was a bodyguard for this girlfriend and her friends and that he actually was a pimp and didn't know about it was absolutely hysterical and probably worth just to rent this. And Michael keaton's reference to TLC's lyrics throughout the movie was also pretty funny too.

Though I liked a couple of his movies, I'm not a Ferrell fan. Less is more for me. That said, I liked this one. Laughed out loud and hard a few times and liked some of the subtle stuff. Yeah, there was some wading through crap to get to the nuggets, but mostly I liked it.

I don't lurk as much as I used to and I NEVER listen. Comes from being old and cynical.

I thought this movie was HILARIOUS, great writing. I don't really understand Oink's diatribe against Ferrell, he is the best comedic actor Hollywood has right now.

The only weakness this film showed was with the other actors ... they tried to keep up with the Will Farrel Comedy express, but just couldn't.

Highly recommended!

Here is my list of movies WF has performed in that I enjoyed:

Zoolander
Blades of Glory
Ron Burgundy
Stranger Than Fiction
Old School
Wedding Crashers
Elf

In all of these I felt WF was amusing and worth the price of a ticket.
But, then, there are all the others....

I watched the "extended" or whatever version.
It dragged too long.
And, no, I am not a fan of NASCAR; I would rather be in a jalapeño eating contest than watch one of those "races."

There are some very funny moments in the film (like all of his stuff).
Unfortunately, not enough for me to rate it as a Thumbs-Up.
Of course, YMMV.

I don't have anything personal against Will Ferrel. For me, when he's funny he's funny. When he's not, it's not even close.

This movie, ironically, didn't find me at all irritated or not laughing at Ferrel. What really pissed me off was that it was just stupid. There was so much potential (in my mind I guess) that what I saw was a big disappointment. Marky-Mark's character just flat out made no sense some times. He would snap for no reason. At least justify some of that stuff and I'd be happy.

But the biggest issue I had was the premature-exit of Dwayne and Sam. I didn't mind their roles were glorified cameos. But come on. The way they were "dropped" from the film was just flat out stupid. At least make it make sense. I'd of even settled for them being on the take, and Wahlberg and Ferrel had to bring them down. That would have at least made sense considered Ferrel's character's approach to policing (i.e. paperwork is his friend).

It's a bummer for me. The funny moments were definitely there (accidental pimp, hot wife confusion, deer vagina). But the rest of the film was just sorta there and frustrating. Oh well.

That scene with Will with his mouth full gold teeth and pimp's hat & leather jacket was on par with the funniest of all time like Something about Mary's sticky hair moment. And then in the end when Michael's keaton's last TLC's lyric quoting when Will got shot was balls out hysterical. So yeah I agree most of the movie was pretty sucky but some of those moments along was worth sitting through the whole movie. A really good laugh or 2 can do wonders for the soul and change the whole mood for the day.

The problem is how much of one's life should be given up for those infrequent laughs?
I can pop in Something About Mary or Old School and howl for nearly 2 hours straight....

I'm way late to this one, but just saw it tonight. Maybe I was just in the mood, but I laughed so much it was ridiculous. It's so full of off the wall non-sequiturs that you could watch it a number of times before you really got them all.

I re-watched this one tonight and once again really laughed hilariously. Maybe I'm just a silly boy, but I really like it. Some folks might see the first part and think that's what it's going to be. But you have to have that first part to set up the really funny stuff to come.
