Great film has good lfe also. You can see the similarities of Red Dawn in it, fun to watch and it kept me interested to the end.
Glad I bought it.

Hmm, even with it being distributed by Paramount it doesn't seem to be available in the US? Wonder why?

I have not been able to locate it on any release list for the US. The funny thing is a remember seeing the trailer on one of the BD discs of another Aussie film that Netflix sent out recently.

Netflix just signed a deal with Paramount so this film might wind up WI since it didn't get particularly good reviews and Paramount may not be finding much interest in it as a DVD or BD release in the US.

Guess what, this film was "released" in the US Friday! I watched in on Vudu last night and I was wondering while I was watching it if the trailers I had seen weren't 2:35:1 and IMDB says it was but it was cropped on Vudu! It's also available on Amazon, YouTube Movies and probably elsewhere as VOD. Says "still in theaters" but that might be two somewhere.

Not a bad film but certainly lacks the "sensationalism" that Hollywood would have put into such a production. I was just trying to figure out why it took so long to come to the US? Maybe they felt that the US 18 to 25 demographic would have thought it was too corny.

Freestyle Digital Media is the distributor for this version and it is their version which is cropped. If you look up earlier trailers on YouTube they're in 2:35:1. Wonder if the DVD/BD will also be cropped. Should email Freestyle and ask why though the answer might be "that's what Paramount gave us."

Interesting the DVD is an "on demand" one that they do a "one-off" to a DVD-R.

Watched an HD broadcast tonite, terrific fun.smile.gif
If only Red Dawn was this good....

Very well written, very well acted.
Although it sounds like some kind of stupid, frivolous teeny flick....seriously, it's hard to believe this movie turned out as well as it did.

I haven't seen Hunger Games yet...IF it is half as good as this movie, I will be overjoyed.

BTW, according IDMB, a sequel (which is needed IMO) will be done.smile.gifcool.gif

I had forgotten about this. I see Vudu has it. I should be able to watch it this weekend.

Wow, what a let down! This is a partial remake of Red Dawn for tweens. Too many dumb things and other issues to list. The only reason I watched it all the way through was because I payed $6 on Vudu and even then I almost quit before it was over.

Redbox has it around here, so you might have been able to spend just a $1 for it. The Vudu version I watched wasn't OAR either.

The movie's main characters are portrayed as middle to late teens.
Although Larry and I don't seem to agree...IMO (and FWIW), the main characters are credible, at least from the POV of how and what kids (of that age) would do under the circumstances the plot puts them in.
Again....IMO.

When I said "tweens", I didn't mean the characters were tweens. The absurdity of some how some of the events took place and no real consequences of some other actions (which could be deemed "credible reactions" for teens, especially today) are meant for an audience that are usually sheltered from such things, i.e. like how they were portrayed in Red Dawn, whether you think that was accurate or not. Also, they got a little bit of "preaching" (and it wasn't just the religious girl) in here and there. I will say the one main female lead is probably a decent actress, she just needs a better vehicle to show it.

Watch it, see for yourself, no big deal to me if I'm the lone man out - I thought "Attack the Block" sucked, too, another tween movie. Although ATB has more going for it than TWTWB. And if you've never seen Red Dawn, watch it, too.

I do admit some of the actions of the kids in the movie was stretching the credibility thing a bit, but I took it in stride.

Australians are probably the toughest bunch in the English-speaking world.
When you think of this toughness in adults, it wasn't hard to imagine their off-spring would be chips off the old blocks...so to speak.wink.gif

There's a chance the sequels won't be made since this didn't make any money .

Either that or they realized they couldn't book the Keystone Cops to choreograph some of the chase scenes to make them more believable. smile.gif
