Sorry fellas but after Dark Knight I was hoping Nolan would perhaps make Batman not so much for adults and brighten things up a bit but this new trailer looks like more of the same. In fact, that football bit looks a lot like something from Inception. This whole series is a bust for me. I mean wtf is this Batman: prozac? It sure doesn't look or feel like a comic book movie to me...more like the sequel for Inception or Requiem for a Dream.

Inception and RFAD are both brilliant films, and Batman by it's nature is a darker\\gritter comic series. So, I don't really understand the complaint. Sounds like another case of personal viewing expectations not being met, which results in unfounded criticisms.

In spite of that, I won't be purchasing a 3D display any time soon.
Maybe when the tech evolves more....

2D BDs in my HT is the only presentation I go for right now.

I hear ya. There's certain movies I don't mind seeing in 3D. Transformers 3: DOTM in IMAX 3D was pretty darn cool. But IMAX 3D is in a whole other league. Another movie I enjoyed in regular old RealD 3D was Drive Angry. That movie rocks!

Just kidding. Seriously though, I don't think anybody is doubting that the film will still be awesome. I mean, I think the second coming of Jesus is more likely than the film actually being BAD. Regardless, the trailer was pretty disappointing. Which is surprising because the first real trailer for TDK was, no hyperbole, one of the most OMG-AWESOME! trailers of all time. Of course, that was arguably all due to Ledger and his overwhelming awesomeness as the Joker (man, I sound like quite the fan boy--I'm really not that much of a Nolan batman fanboy, I swear!). Anyhoo, thinking back to the Batman Begins trailers, I don't recall if they were all that fantastic either.

FWIW, my opinion-based ratings:
The Bats = 4/5
Inception = 2/5
The Prestige = 2/5
Insominia = 3/5
Memento = 1/5
The Following = 2.5/5

Really? I got the 3d BD on sale on Amazon for about $10.

EDIT: Nevermind. Just checked and the regular BD is $15 and the 3d one is $25. I guess I got really lucky.

This is me trying to pinch myself awake. Memento is a masterpiece, and both Inception and The Prestige are close enough. Wow.. to each their own indeed.

Your my kinda guy Oink. We seem to agree more often than not. I didn't mind Inception, it just didn't meet any of my expectations. Memento I thought was fabulous, but I probably don't care to see it again.

Sources say some at Warner Bros. want Christopher Nolan to change the sound mix in response to complaints that Bane's dialogue is hard to hear. But the filmmaker plans only to alter the sound slightly.

After building to such a climax with the end of Dark Knight, why would Nolan brighten things up now? That's going against the grain of the narrative. You channeling your inner Schumacher?

Too many systems and games....not enough time or money!

Are we talking about the same film????
Drive starring Ryan Gosling?

Amazon has Drive being released Jan. 31, 2012.

EDIT: DOH!
I didn't realize we were talking about the Nic Cage flick (which was a lot of fun BTW).

So many negative thoughts on the muffled dialog everywhere. Nolan has final cut, so Warner bros. cannot do a thing about this. One just hopes that when the film is tested, if the dialog is a problem, Nolan will not be thick headed about it.

I couldn't understand nearly all of Bane's lines in the 6 minute preview.

His single line in the official trailer is fine.

Based on the uproar, Nolan may very well tweak it a bit come summer....but I also understood Bane just fine in the trailer. Have not seen the IMAX preview.

Same here. It was grumbly, for sure but I heard what he said. Maybe if I had seen the preview scene and not the trailer I would know what all the fuss was about.

Eh... don't mean to diverge the thread off it's tracks but I was pretty disappointed with Machete and I loved PT and DP. Machete was far too preachy and not as fun as it was advertised to be. Well, it was kinda fun I guess. Definitely not as 'cool' as the original Machete faux trailer lead us on to believe.

To further go off the rails on a crazy train, I liked Planet Terror, thought Death Proof was a yawn-fest (too bad because I like Kurt Russell) and Machete was the worst of the three.

I'd say personal viewing expectations not being met is right up there with nostalgia for reasons why people delude themselves into not enjoying a film (or TV show, for that matter).

I agree with that. I was expecting some serious grindhouse because of Machete's trailers and got standard issue superhero fare instead. Only the opening scene was worthy of the hype. Bah, humbug (well, 'tis the season...)
