I think they're still being made; at least they were several years ago.

They are but it's slightly smaller than the original version.

Seems like this should have been out like 5 years ago when all those Robot Wars shows were somewhat popular on TV.

The movie is based on the same short story used for the Twilight Zone episode. Thank you for sharing that. I'll get around to watching all the classic TZs in HD streaming on Netflix one of these days.

There's a thread about it somewhere.

First thing that came to my mind, "Rock'em, Sock'em, Robots: The Movie."

I typed the title and it usually picks it up but it's definitely not working anymore.

As long as it isn't played campy, I might really like this.
Robot Gladiators could be a good chicken wings and beer evening.

My dad and I went and saw it last night. It wasn't that bad. It wasn't nearly as cheesy as I thought it would be. The robots were actually pretty cool. Hugh Jackman did a pretty god job too. I'd give it a shot if you're into robots that don't try to kill humanity in every movie.

+1
A perfect film for a father and son day-at-the-movies trip.

However, I thought the little boy and the girlfriend were somewhat inconsistent with their acting chops.
Although it seemed like a long movie from time to time, but it doesn't drag too much.
However, the real reason to see this film is the robot CGI.
Pretty spectacular IMO.

Watched at our brand spanking new local IMAX theater.
Pleased as punch Central Oregon finally has a movie theater worth buying a ticket for.
Excellent resolution, nice punchy colors, great brightness and contrast levels...

The sound was incredible....the best I have ever heard in a theater (with subwoofers to die for).
The fidelity and surround effects were inspiring.

Unfortunately, it was simply too loud.
The wife's ears were hurting (and mine a little bit too).
She nearly walked out and I seriously considered making a complaint while the movie was running.
Louder is not ALWAYS better....

Not an uncommon problem with IMAX theaters.

Stephen.

Chances are very good that I was drinking when I posted the above.

Huh, I wasn't aware of that.
I hadn't been an IMAX theater in many years...

It's a shame because the audio system I heard was simply incredible.
God, I wish my HT was THAT good.

The obnoxious sound levels of most theaters these days is my main complaint.
Somewhere along the line I woke up to the fact my hearing was actually worth saving.

So I am not the only one...

Ordinarily, I can handle the higher levels (above my HT) in the typical cineplex.
But this IMAX Theater was way above anything I have experienced before...right up there with rock concerts of old.

Took my Nephew to see it and was surpised. I did enjoy it. It could have been better but it was not bad at all.

Also the end reminded me of Rocky
