Fubar!
Fubar 2 was just released in Canada a few days ago. Its very worth checking out and will make you laugh. Very funny pair of characters that have become Canadian celebrities.

How about:

Cashback (2006) (a romantic comedy for men; meaning lots of nudity)

Lair of the White Worm (1988) (comedy horror, a bit gruesome)

Magic Christian, The (1969) (groovy)

Rancho Deluxe (1975) (modern western)

Twister (1989) (this is not the tornado-chasing movie)

Withnail and I (1987) (a British "fear and loathing" story)

All are funny, offbeat and not too heavy.

There isn't much left that nobody knows about these days. Thank you internets.

Here's some recent movies with cult status that come to mind:

The Foot Fist Way - Danny Mcbride playing a karate douchebag
The Room - one of the most worstest movies ever. Internet is crazy over it.
The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters - the ultimate tale of good vs. evil
Troll 2 - horrible "horror" movie that's so bad it's funny
Observe and Report (approaching cult status) - sick and funny

The above post is 100% medically accurate

I recently watched Nothing but Trouble for the first time in years. I think this film garnered a cult status. Many elements of the film are loveably corny, and buried underneath it all is a good Michael Kamen score that I would love to see get a CD release.

King of Kong...

Rent it now...or watch it through Netflix streaming. It's probably not considered a comedy, but it's a riot (more of the laugh at then laugh with crowd).

My favorite 'unknown' (for lack of a better word) cult film is Six String Samurai.

At least I believe it qualifies as a "cult" film.

The Harder They Come ran every Saturday at midnight for ten years at The Orson Welles Theater in Cambridge. The movie introduced us to reggae.

Good ones, and I'll add "A Boy And His Dog".

Try Dead Snow. It's a Nazi zombie flick from Norway. Filmed on location in the mountains.

The premise was good but the execution was weak. Try the Horde. It's a pretty straight forward zombie flick with a few good laughs.

In terms of ones I can think of right off hand that I think are really good/funny, and are certainly not unknown but under-known and under-appreciated:

1. Along Came Polly. Hillarious romantic comedy that I never get tired of watching

2. Death to Smoochy. Cracks me up, but some folks probably won't get it. It's worth it just for Robin William's hillarious lines, but everyone is good in this one I think.

3. Mystery Men. Very silly type funny movie. Some folks may just not get it at all, but it completely cracks me up. About a group of wannabe super heros.

I remember Rotten Tomatoes had this at 18% for the longest time, and it's slowly climbed up to 42%. Maybe the critics are finally getting the joke after 10 years.

I love this crazy, underappreciated, misunderstood, vicious hoot of a pitch black comedy.

I love offbeat movies like these. I haven't seen Death to Smoochy but putting it on my short list.

Speaking of Robin Williams, another recent comedy that comes to mind is World's Greatest Dad. Twisted humor with a heart. Hopefully it's popularity picks up through the years because it's a pretty cool movie that deserves to be seen!
