Monster movie out of Norway that has been getting some great praise around the festivals, looks fun!

That is something different. Will be interesting to see if it can be entertaining.

I won't watch...shaky cam monsters of the week (though the creatures look interesting).

I don't lurk as much as I used to and I NEVER listen. Comes from being old and cynical.

Hmmmmn.....a Blair Witch/Cloverdale vibe....
I'm up for it, if it isn't a shaky-cam extravaganza.

"Trolljegeren" aka "Troll Hunter" R2 has been available since Feb 2011 but you will have to download the English subs from Subscene or opensubtitles.org, etc.

The Troll Hunter is a fun film (even though some of the humor may have pass me by), get a blender, throw in some Blair Witch Project, The Host, Cloverfield (but without as much shaky cam) add in a dash of beautiful countryside and you have "The Troll Hunter". The Troll Hunter mixes several genres to create an interesting and entertaining film... comedy and horror mixed in with the mockumentary" style and some pretty good special-effects should keep you interested until the end.

Unfortunately for non-Norwegians some of the humor may be lost on us, unless you are familiar with Norwegian fairy tales. The cinematography is wonderful and the beautiful shots of the Norwegian countryside are fabulous!

Definitely worth a rent or even a trip to the theater. If you are like me and cannot wait it was around $40.00 shipped (price may vary since I'm not sure what the exchange rate is now.)

Highly Recommended for those who enjoy something a little different.

BTW, the LA Times reports: "After a successful run at Fantastic Fest, the movie is set to come out in the U.S. next year. Universal owns remake rights, so don't be surprised if that happens too."

It all sounds good to me, but not for 40 bucks.
I'll wait for a proper video release.

Hey guys I think this is hitting VOD tonight? It's not showing on my DirecTV (go figure) but it may be available through other companies.

F DirecTV. I'm getting tired of not being able to spend my money. Might have to go through other avenues to watch the latest VOD releases.

Thanks for the review Airboss - this definitely sounds like one I'd like to see.

It's on FIOS...But if you're willing to wait a few weeks, you can see it for free on HDNet Movies.

Comcast had a "Message" that it is available OnDemand. It's also on VUDU though oddly the description is faded and impossible to read (wonder if they know that).

It's not on a channel...it's in the OnDemand section. BROWSE ALL - HIGH DEFINITION - HD MOVIES

But again, it will be on HDNet Movies for free 2 or 3 days before it opens in theaters. There's also a 5 minute promo...just do a search for TROLLHUNTER

Hated it. Badly made cross of Blair Witch and Cloverfield. I fell asleep halfway through, went back and watched the rest of it and regret it.

My Second Life character looks and acts exactly like me except he can fly.

This was a fun movie, an original idea, perhaps not the way it was filmed but in its conception. I'll have to own it on blu!. A remake is in the works by Chris Colombus though..

I don't really regret seeing it but this is something I would NOT rec to a friend. If you love things like Blair Witch then this might be for you. It just didn't do anything for me except I did find some of the characters esp those kids trying to cover the troll story very annoying for some reason. And there was just some camara jerking back n forth that was also very unnerving...not a pleasant experience.

It was way better then "Blair ditch" but certainly won't recommend owning it. I caught this on Amazon's VOD HD a few weeks back. Yes the filming style does remind you of Cloverfield, but it was hard to take seriously, it was almost like they "pull the audience's leg on this one". Certainly it was interesting.

I thought it was a fun movie and well worth the rental on Vudu. I can overlook the filming styles if the story arc is good. The story arc drew me in and was a good ride.

What level of "shaky cam" is used in this film?

I would like to watch this title, yet if it is full of the shaky cam then I'll have to pass on it.

I jack sparrowed it. Probably on the disk. Some of the characters had cheesy southern accents that didn't fit to well:

As a scandinavien, we're brought up with story's about trolls and such. I kinda liked it.

How can they make a remake, if it is set in the US? You don't have that mythology that everyone is familiar with. If you're a Tolkien and fantasy reader might help a little but, sounds weird anyhow

Well, I did not care for Blair Witch or Cloverfield, but enjoyed this one last night. It was hilarious yet exciting at times.

Worth a rental although I do not know much about Troll history and the Christianity connection.

The ending was nice but abrupt.
