Agreed.

I thought of the "gangsters" as survivors, rather than as heroes.
Didn't really think of the movie as Good vs. Evil.

I kinda feel like this is my neighborhood and I look out for my neighbors..it's just on a different level and done in a way I wouldn't go.

The reason I said 'heroes' is because at the end everyone is chanting Moses' name, as if he were a hero, when actually he's just a thug.

Just checked IMDB and I'm not the only one that feels the way I do, many comments concerning the same things I've stated earlier.

Also many comments of people who really liked the movie.

Hopefully you don't look out for your neighbors by holding a knife to their throat and robbing them of everything they have on them.

I must have missed the part that showed 'deep down they were good'????

Regardless of everything else, IMO this was a very entertaining flick...one I will watch more than once.

As always: YMMV.

I guess I'm in the minority here. I couldn't get through it all. I wasn't impressed with the alien.

I thought it would have been the accents to turn people off Larry. Honestly I loved the way they handled the aliens. Then again I have been a Dr. who fan since the 70's

I just watched this last night. I wasn't that impressed. It was ok for a creature movie, I suppose, but I was expecting more.

I did have to turn on subtitles as I was having trouble with the accents.

It wasn't the accents. It was just a little to lite for me. And, lately, my bar is really high. Too many things to do and not enough time to do them.

You're not the minority, I was the 1st one to go against the grain. This thing was so way over rated and I feel stupid since I was the one hyped on it and quoting that plant from aint it cool news saying it was the best film of the year. Now I don't care what taste you have but this crap is anything but best film of the year. The alien/monster was something from the muppets inventory if you even want to call it an alien. And the film revolved around those dumb punks that didn't go anywhere.

I absolutely have no freakin idea how a movie like this gets so much positive feedback and something much better like Skyline is no hated. At least they have real scary aliens.

Same but Skyline was not horror/comedy and people who worked on Battle:LA hit it hard on the press and msg boards.

Now Zoey go watch Tucker and Dale vs Evil :P

This was horror/comedy? I must have missed the comedy part, other than a couple of quick lines I remember being half-amusing.

I think the "comedy" is more in the unlikely scenerio of young gang-bangers deciding to fight alien invaders to the death using their street skills, rather than running away to hide (as would more likely be the case).

Admittedly, there aren't a lot of laughs.
Attack the Block is more of a grin, than guffaws.

I guess this a niche movie even amongst internet nerds. I thought it was great and hilarious.

I'll need to rent this from Netflix or Blockbuster.

Maybe I'll get it from VUDU instead. It's showing a long wait on Netflix and Blockbuster.

definitely one of the best films of 2011... I sat through it twice. Loads of fun!

This is one of those movies, where you either get it or you don't. Sure, Moses was a knucklehead and a troublemaker @ first, but by the movie's end, I think it was clear that the traumatic nature of his experience had changed him for the better.

Which is what Prison is supposed to do, If I'm not mistaken.

Those of you who have an issue with the "hero" of the film, should try associating the Alien experience with some sort of apparatus for reform... like Prison. With your line of reasoning, people who pay their debt to society shouldn't be given the benefit of the doubt?

I don't think that's what your saying. People do change.

Just watched this. What a great little movie. I suppose I can see the disgust with the thuggish behavior of the protagonists, but part of the point of the movie was the changing of outwardly stereotypical types into actual individuals over the course of the film. The making of film (which ran for 2/3 the length of the actual feature) showed the young actors to be a beguiling and silly bunch of kids. Plus I thought the monsters were truly creepy creations and the action sequences were tense and thrilling.

I'll be picking this one up once I see it at a cheap price. I could watch it over and over.
