Surprisingly intriguing trailer! Stars Colin Farrell, Anton Yelchin, and toni Collette.

I liked the first one way back when, so hope updated remake will be good. Hard for me to tell from the trailer how good it will be.

Me too. The first one was a great take off with comedy and Roddy McDowell as well as some scare. The preview looked a little too straight but you can't completely know from the trailer.

Jerry. Just remember. Its not a lie . . . if you believe it. GC

His teeth look horrible, but the movie actually looks really good from the preview. I loved the original and I'm looking forward to this one.

The original Fright Night is one of my favourite horror movies. The trailer for the new one doesn't seem as intriguing. Even the original Fright night trailer looks better of the two.

Well, having recently seen both FRIGHT NIGHT and FRIGHT NIGHT II in HD...I'm primed for the remake.

Did they just do away with the Roddy Mcdowall/TV horror host character or did I just miss it?

Good to see McLovin is brancing out.

Roddy McDowall, where are you?

XBOX Live: Wagmman

BFBC2: Wagman

My Second Life character looks and acts exactly like me except he can fly.

Early review: http://www.filmschoolrejects.com/rev...nd-playful.php

This Fright Night will never be a classic, though I’ll submit that the original isn’t quite the classic it’s painted as, but rather a really good movie punched up beyond its station by nostalgic thirty-somethings (I am guilty of this) – but it’s good summer entertainment with an attractive and talented cast, easy hook, and a solid excuse to get yourself to a theater.

Just got back from out of town (San Jose). I've seen two reviews (Ebert & USA Today) and they were both positive. I'm going tomorrow to the first show with the wife and her niece who loves horror movies. By the way, San Jose is a nice laid back place and I had the Bacharach/David tune in my head the whole time. My wife really liked it also.

Crap. Am I gonna have to go and see t this? Trailer looks good enough AND decent reviews? McLovin was pretty funny in scene they're showing on TV.

Nah, wait for the BD.

Nice remake, saw it last night. I've always been a fan of the original and although this version takes it more into CG-land, I felt it did the original proud. The actors were very good to great. You are going to get a different spin with a remake but I thought the humor which made the original so enjoyable is still there but tailored more to today's audiences. The first act is slow with character introductions but it starts to ramp up in the second act and goes full bore in the third act. I saw the 2D version and don't think I lost much although I could see the more obvious effects flying out of the screen. Is this a rush out and see right away movie? Yes, if you're a fan. No, because I think it will do very well on video and on Blu-ray it will exceed what I saw in the theater.

I saw it last night. (SLIGHT SPOILERS IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN THE ORIGINAL) I am mostly in agreement with the quoted review. I would say that it doesn't have the camp that the first one had. The actor who plays Charlie was not the best pick. Farrell was excellent as Jerry but too aggressive (in that he supposedly has to be more smart to draw attention to himself to survive) but for the movie purpose it works for the thriller aspect. It does have the elements of a nice horror picture unlike the typical slasher film. (I saw it in 2D as well as a review mentioned that some of the movie is filmed in darkness so the 3D glasses make it even murkier and I am sick of murky 3D movies.) This is a nice matinee movie and I brought my older kids to see it as the original movie might bore them. The Peter Vincent role was more Russell Brand rather than Roddy McDowell but that is ok (had to adjust though having loved Roddy in the original). Just supposed to be fun and it was for the most part. As for kids, mostly some unrealistic violence and gore, language and sexual situations.

Jerry. Just remember. Its not a lie . . . if you believe it. GC

The new Peter Vincent has nothing on Roddy McDowell. Some of the scenes with the new PV fell flat to me but McDowell was a much better actor wasn't he. I also think the new Jerry was too aggressive but in one scene he had nothing to worry about as he knew what the outcome of his actions would be. This movie acted like there weren't any neighbors ever around. Explosions that would wake the dead but no neighbors running out to see what the heck was going on. I liked the new movie but again, there were some scenes that ended flat. Same thing with Cowboys vs Aliens.

Saw this Saturday night. Thought it was a lot of fun.

Watched the original Sunday morning. Man, has that movie aged badly. Other than Roddy McDowall, the acting in it is atrocious across the board. Anyone complaining about Anton Yelchin (cough:daryl zero) is clearly looking back on William Ragsdale with heavily rose-colored glasses. He screams every single line of dialogue he has in the movie. He, Amanda Bearse, and the kid playing Ed (who's clearly coked out of his mind - and I'm not talking about the character) are all just insufferable to watch.

This is one of those rare cases where the remake improves on the original in almost every respect.

I really enjoyed Fright Night!!. It was remade well, with a good cast and acting. The 3D effect finally added to the story and was also done well, which made it fun. Colin Ferrel fit the part of Jerry almost too good . I can finally recommend a movie to see in 3D @ the theaters. !

Just once, I'd like someone who hasn't seen an original film or it's remake to watch the original film first and then watch the remake. Otherwise, they'll be comparing the original to the remake, and not the remake to the original.

I grew up on the original and went in this one basically on yellow alert, because I liked the original, but this one stands on it's own. So you have two good, slightly different versions of the same story I'm happy to say.

I had seen the original film years ago and had a vague recollection of liking it. It doesn't hold up.

The new film is exactly what a remake should be. It takes a marginal film that had a good idea but poor execution and polishes it with the type of superior writing, performances, and production values that the original lacked.
