Man I have been waiting for this movie for awhile. Stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt as the lead, supported by Anna Kendrick, Bryce Dallas Howard, and Seth Rogen. Originally entitled "I'm With Cancer", it is directed by Jonathan Levine and produced by Seth Rogen and his best friend and writing partner Evan Goldberg.

Trailer here:

Additionally, this film has been getting great buzz from the festival rounds.

Given the cast and director, I would not watch this movie with a ten foot pole.

He comes across as that hilarious friend from high school or college, hes very likeable, imo. Word is his role in this film is much more subdued humor.

Also, this film is scored by Michael Giacchino of LOST and Pixar's UP fame.

Review: http://www.filmschoolrejects.com/rev...eview-5050.php

50/50 was inspired by Reiser’s own experiences with cancer in his mid twenties, and if there’s a message to the movie it’s that laughter really is the best medicine. Cliched? Sure, but that doesn’t make it any less true. Finding the humor in any situation is an often overlooked key to survival, and while the film never shies away from the pain, suffering, and depression associated with an experience like this, it stays true to its core belief. The people who make you laugh, in good times and bad, are the people you want and need to keep close.

Perhaps you should check out a few more films from 2011 like "The Descendants", "Albert Nobbs", or "Take Shelter".

I watched this tonight and I loved it. It was one of those that make you laugh out loud and cry at the same time, which are the best kind I think, like Life as a House as another example. It's got the same sort of vibe in a way, and I think that both are excellent.

I definitely thought this was better than Albert Nobbs. Considering Nobbs' 55% on Rotten Tomatoes, it's clear that the studio did a wonderful job of campaigning for the movie. 50/50 is a fantastic film and was snubbed. In my opinion at least.

Something I find interesting sometimes is how someone I've never heard of at all will suddenly show up in back to back movies. I'd never heard of the girl in this one, but she showed up in "Up in the Air" and then in this one which I watched next.

You're talking about Anna Kendrick. The first time I saw her was in the first Twilight movie as a goofy teenager.

Very good movie. JGL parts are superb. It could have gone down the "let's use my cancer pal to get laid" but it only ventures there briefly. Well done and thoughtful look at getting the "news." Rogen's character served a great purpose in keeping JGL human instead of sick. Very enjoyable.

I've seen it again since my previous post and really enjoyed it the second time around as well, maybe even more so.
