215 still sounds like too much $$$ to me to hope for much ROI.

I recall a comic (Far Side?) in which Lone Ranger learns that "kemosabe" means "back end of horse."

In that picture, Depp looks as much like Capt Jack Sparrow as like Tonto.

I think The Lone Ranger has a chance, in stark contrast to my feelings about John Carter from the time I learned what it was. The Lone Ranger is being directed by Gore Verbinski, who won an Oscar for his wonderful Rango. Also, to put it gently, Johnny Depp and Arnie Hammer have significantly more encouraging track records than the relatively unknown Taylor Kitsch.

I hope he is a pissed-off Tonto ,Now that will be funny.
Johnny D does a great scowl . @ least he not Cast as "The Lone Ranger" .
What is really gonna matter is if the writers can come up with some decent dialog .
Tonto was famous for one liners & deadpan .................

Doesn't look much like the characters from the TV series.
I wonder if this new guy is a circus stunt rider, like Clayton Moore was? I rather doubt it.

To paraphrase the guys at MST3k- "and starring Johnny Depp in a role that won't surprise you. Btw, that picture looks more like a reboot of the Village People than the Lone Ranger.

I hope THIS is in the movie....

Lone Ranger and Tonto riding a train....
"That was good water Tonto. Can you bring another one"
"Yes, Kimosabe"

Tonto comes back 10- minutes later, empty handed.
"Tonto, no can get water."
"Why not?"
"White man sitting on well."

Ha...I spend a minute looking at that photo going "The Lone Ranger doesn't look at all like Johnny Depp"

Then read the next comment, and looked at Tonto.

As with many movie/tv shows that are suppose to be about the same people or things, there is stark differences in appearance of both characters in this movie compared to the original tv show.

Then, some of the old TV westerns, that were about real people, were not even close to what the truth was of the main character.
The way Annie Oakley, Kit Carson, Wyatt Earp were shone were gross misrepresentations.

I really like her too. She won me over forever in Fight Club as Marla.

More recently, Ms. Bonham Carter was utterly brilliant as the future Queen Mother in The King's Speech. I can't think of anyone else who could have given that performance with just that perfect tone and nuance.

I have to agree she played that role very well.

She has teamed up with Johnny quite a bit, and it does seem to be rubbing off.

Who can forget this face?

Indeed, I thought one of her finest performances was in Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (2007), Tim Burton's film adaptation of Stephen Sondheim's masterpiece. Bonham Carter and Depp were unbelievably good. Despite their somewhat weak voices, they were more than adequate musically and, no surprise here, brilliant dramatically. To be effective, Mrs. Lovett, played by Bonham Carter in the film, must be both funny and creepy, and Bonham Carter delivered.
