The best part? We're guaranteed a sequel after that bold rescue mission in Somalia several days ago.

Lol, nice. Another fun fact about this film is it was shot primarily with Canon DSLRs (about 85% of it).

Looks ok...kind of corny but who knows I thought bhd's trailer was corny

No subwoofer I've heard has been able to produce the bass I've experienced in the Corps!

There's something I don't understand, maybe that sounds silly, but aren't these guys supposed to work um 'under the radar'? Why make a movie with real ones? ...Yet I'm most likely going to see it as well, but I'm just wondering. I assume they're not using their real names on the credits either.

Maybe they're Seals who are about to be fired, so what the hey?

And boy, they did not like whoever was in that pickup.

None of their real names were used in the movie. Those DSLRs looked pretty damn good! Can't say anything else until Friday.

And looking at some info on Seals, it's really the Naval Special Warfare Development Group (Seal Team 6) that is completely classified. Those are the dudes who croaked Bin Laden and did that Somali pirate raid recently. They wouldn't let a film crew near them. The other teams aren't as secretive.

I noticed the teaser said "active duty" SEALS were used in the film, which means taxpayers are paying them to be in a movie.

Uhhh...shouldn't they be out trying to get the bad guys instead of making a recruitment movie for the Pentagon public?

I saw em all the time when I was over at Damneck at NMITC. Seal Team 6 isn't really what everyone thinks them to be...the news just says they are seal team 6 because the world barely knows anything about them.

On a recent trip to San Diego, we stayed on Naval Amphibous Base Coronado. I had some time to cycle around the base on a Friday morning to look around. It was kind of fascinating to see that a BUDS class was training in the pool, and many other things around the base. I'm used to visiting the exchanges (shops) on military bases. This one had a section like I've never seen before. It was an usually large and well-stocled section of every type of tactical gear and accessories you could imagine. Especially interesting was the very large section of tactical gloves...the kind with hard plastic conformal knuckle armor. Also lots of elbow and knee armor. Another unique thing there was a good supply of waterproof note pads. Hmmm.

I noticed two things about the young men I saw there. They were in astounding physical condition, and they looked really intelligent; more so than the average enlisted troop out there. These guys are not all bulked up with over defined muscle, but they were "deep strong" if there is such a thing. They were very lean, big, but not bulky. Damned impressive. Another curious thing was that they were all quite good-looking guys; almost Tom Cruise in Top Gun type of look. Our daughter would have been impressed.

I sat down at the McDonald's on base with a young man who was alone and chatted with him. He was a young fellow from rural Kansas; 20 I think. He had been in the Navy a couple of years, but wanted to make one of the teams that is not SEALS, but special armament and tactics (or something similar) that also train there. Very competitive to get even a chance to be selected. I was extremely impressed how sharp and quietly down to earth the kid was for his age. I thanked him for his service and wished him luck. God bless 'em.

I can't imagine how this movie gets made with real SEALS who are going to remain active. They are always high value, so I can't imagine they can spare any. Must see, though.

I have no problem with them being involved with a film that may attract the special young men it takes to do this. We cannot afford to run short.

A recruitment video is fine...we see 'em all the time on the tube.
However, marketing a long version of one as a COMMERCIAL MOVIE is not.

Yup...says me.
I have no problem showing the military I pay for in a "positive light," as long as it is a realistic portrayl.

I like The Message here....military service rarely resembles a Hollywood movie.

If our taxes are paying for it and there is profit generated, I want it to go to the U.S. Treasury (where it belongs).
