As a child of the 80's (born in '64), I'm looking forward to this.

More likely it's a marketing video for a Super Bowl commercial.

That's right, a trailer for a commercial.

A trailer for a commercial...

The concept itself has more comedy than any Ferris Bueller sequel could possibly muster.

This nonsense would only make me not want to buy a Honda.

Am I missing something here? It's just a commcercial with a funny Ferris vibe. What's the problem? Where's the nonsense? I don't get the 'trailer for a commercial' outrage. Sorry guys, I mean no disrespect, I just don't see what's the big deal.

There is no outrage on my end. It's more like that I get tired of dumb advertising concepts.

The whole thing seems stupid and much too gimmicky. The idea of a trailer for a commercial is stupid, and exploiting the Ferris Bueller character decades older simply for a Honda commercial is much too gimmicky (and really doesn't make sense).

I don't think any remake could ever compare to the original

Gawd that was awful.

Or I suppose "lame" is the better word.

First, impression is that Broderick is just too old - not just in looks but in energy and timing. I think it was Joe Flaherty of Second City (now quite old himself) who pointed out that comics and comedic actors can "get old" like athletes because comedy does take a certain sense of fleetness and timing that can leave you when you get old.

Broderick looks like that: tired, slow, not invested, no zip. His performance is a drag.
Just as bad is the utterly uninspired "gags" (I was actually waiting for one) and awful direction. The only close-to-funny part was staring at the walrus. Otherwise...flat..flat..flat...

I'd never see a movie if they made one, based on seeing that commercial.

Another thing is that if I were Mr. Broderick, I would stay away from advertising anything motor vehicle related after having such a tragically unfortunate past involving one. I might have a twisted mind, but it's mostly what I think of when watching this ad.

Now if one of the scenes had Jeffrey Duncan Jones molesting a kid in the background, the commercial would be memorable and over the top. Without him in it, the spoof doesn't get there anyhow.

Exactly. It looks like he just showed up to collect his paycheck. No "life" to the performance. He looks tired.

I liked it. The biggest difference that I noticed is that Broderick is now 50; that alone can skew ones perception - he was 24 when he did Bueller.

I’ve never understood how the guy landed so many roles (55). I think he’s a lousy actor. One word comes to mind when I think of him – bland. Having said all of that, I loved FB and consider it a classic.

I don't know how many are like me, but I never saw the Ferris Bueller movie. The clip did nothing for me. There could be humor with a guy taking off work and running into his boss, but that's a tired old canard and for me, it needs to offer something a lot more then what I saw in this commercial. Perhaps the humor is how the scenes relate to the original, but for me, it's simply contrived and, in my case, humorless.

Seeing as there are at least 20+ references in this commercial to the movie alone, yes you would need to see the movie in order to appreciate in any such way. I must admit Honda is schewing to a very specific demographic with this commercial so kind of shocked me when I saw it. I can see LOTS of people be "HUH???" when they see this ad on Sunday.

Personally, LOVED IT. And shame on you for never seeing the movie

The younger Ferris would have scoffed at that commercial, thought, "sellout!" and moved on...

XBOX Live: Wagmman
PSN: Wagg
BFBC2: Wagman
Steam: Wag

My Second Life character looks and acts exactly like me except he can fly.

Nah, he would have breezed through the filming of the commercial and then forgotten about it on the way to the museum.

I wouldnt be surprised if some idiot tried it! (They remake almost every blasted movie they can as they dont have anything to make so they trash a goldmine)

No movie made today is anywhere near as good as in the 80s DUE TO THIS PC CRAP NOW! (Politically Correct) maybe if a movie is rated R it might be close though... (They mostly release PG-13 pieces of crap)
