Will anyone be making the trek (no pun intended) to the theaters to see this one? I remember seeing this one originally on opening day and being supremely let down. No way am I going to put myself through that again, especially not in 3D.

I'm just curious if anyone actually has interest in seeing this in the theater in 3D, especially since Episode 1 is pretty much universally thought of as the worst of the series.

I'll go for Phantom Menace and none of the others. I have no interest in seeing these again in 3D. I just want to see the pod race again in the movie theater. The audio was excellent in Episode 1.

I see this as just a marketing ploy to resell the set once again on Blu-Ray in 3D. Nothing more. I can't honestly see many people actually going to to theaters to see them. Maybe the 3rd, Star Wars and possibly Empire. Even then, how good will the 3D be on 4, 5 and 6?

same exact thoughts!

No subwoofer I've heard has been able to produce the bass I've experienced in the Corps!

I have absolutely no interest in seeing any Star Wars movie in 3D. I have the Blu-ray set and the theatrical OT in iTunes which is more than enough . I'm done with Star Wars in theaters.

This might get the kiddies out but would ruin my childhood memories. No, George, no Star Wars in 3D for me!

I'm not exactly too keen on seeing any of these movies in 3D--I can recall instances in them where I almost got motion sickness while watching, and these scenes would only be amplified tremendously in 3D. (Mostly turning shots set in space.) I am, however, considering going to see Episode I on opening weekend just to see if the upconversion warrants my going to any of the others when they open.

(Also, my theater is one of a select few offering a pair of Anakin Skywalker-styled "goggles" 3D glasses to the first 400 attendees that Saturday, during an opening weekend event, so getting the glasses might just be worth the price of admission. At least I can keep them for later re-use, even if that's not much of an incentive to see the movie.)

Lucas is obviously going to milk every drop out of this cash cow for the rest of his life (his ongoing BS about wanting to work on "small films" notwithstanding), and he'll obviously tinker with the films till he goes to the grave. Me, I couldn't care less. A 3D-converted turd is still a turd, and the 3D conversion process (IOW, FAKE 3D) is itself something I'm not interested in.

I've got kids who have never seen it on a big screen (unless you count 110" as big) so I will be taking them. I'm guessing that will be a decent % of there audience. I'm kind of looking forward to having a "date" with my sons for the next 6 years as they release these annually (if I understand correctly). The lack of purity (Han shot first!---Christiansen as Annakin at the end of Jedi!) doesn't render the movies hopeless to me. At most, they are mild annoyances that keep Star Wars interesting to some folks. Still--would I rather see one of these each year or Kung Fu Panda or some other animated crap---Star Wars wins for me every time.
If you think I'm alone, check the box office after 2 weeks in theaters and see how it did. Maybe it will just be me and my kids in one theater in all of America, but I really doubt it.

Some of these are hard enough to watch again, all the way through, let alone having to sit through them in 3D upgrades.

Exactly! As much as I'd like to say that I'm excited, I'm not at all. Episode one was pretty damn horrible and 3D is definitely not a reason to go see a movie again. Especially a crappy one.

The only thing worse than rewatching TPM would be rewatching it in 3D.

I know it's cliche, but I don't feel like supporting Lucas' ongoing money-grabs. I may (stress "may") go see the OT if I hear the 3D conversion doesn't suck like every other 3D conversion released thus far has.

Yes I am going. I have a 9 yr old & a 4 yr old that both actually like TPM (as most kids from 2 generations ahead of us original SW geeks do). Then again, while I can certainly see why others hated the PT, I personally was entertained. I find that for me, Ep II is the "worst" of the prequel bunch. TPM to me looked & felt more like a "traditional" SW film than II or III did. Everyone else's mileage surely varies.

Somebody must have liked the prequels, though. Movies that suck that bad across the don't make that kind of $$ @ the box office just on opening weekend. At least a few people kept going back to see 'em.

We just wanted to get rid of Jack Lloyd, Jar Jar, and see how many different dresses Natalie Portman could wear in a single shot, and of course, Vader. That's what kept us going

...I agree with you to me Attack Of The Clones is truly the most painful Star Wars film to watch. TPM is lame and ROTS is the best of the three, which isn't saying much at all. TPM felt like Star Wars because after the exciting trailer we all felt like the Star Wars magic was back on the big screen. Up until Jar Jar popped up. As I said, I'm fine with Star Wars on Blu-ray, I'm not watching them often and I'm not willing to pay for a 3D film that I've already seen a lot of times, even if the idea of the pod race in 3D sounds kinda cool. Then again, Lloyd. When I watch Star Wars now it's difficult to get past the silly elements and there are far too many! Yet when the music starts and the text begins to roll, I can't help but watch. Damn you John Williams, damn you George!

Jar-Jar and Laserswords in 3D!!?? Yippie!!!

But seriously, if there's 'one' reason for me to revisit this film, it's to see the podrace in 3D( and well I enjoyed the final duel and the musical score blaring through the theatre sound system). Beyond that, the only films I have any interest in seeing is the original Star Wars( just to see the Death star trench run), and Empire because.....well Empire is just f******g awesome! Why on earth would I intentionally sit through Attack of the Clones, and subject myself to the lovey dovey dialogue and stiff acting, this time in 'glorious' 3D?

Too many systems and games....not enough time or money!

Yes the Jar Jar intro broke the star wars feel. It never really recovered after that. Of course the trailer was helped alot by using the orginal trilogy music.

But Jar Jar was filling the role of 3CPO when he needed to fill Chewbacca.

TPM seems to be generally regarded as the worst of the prequels. I actually happen to think it's the closest in spirit to the originals( flawed as it is). AOTC is by far my least favorite.

But...but...I thought...I mean...I don't like 2D. It's coarse and rough and irritating and it gets everywhere. Not like 3D. 3D...everything is soft and smooth.

Agreed. The last two just feel and look like high school productions to me. The first one had the 'feel' and they used real props and locations too. That helps.

ROTS was by far the worst, imo. Having the dullest sound mix of all six movies sure aint helping it either.

The first one immediately stopped feeling like a Star Wars movie when they left the Gungan city and the underwater section began.
