RIP Ronnie Montrose...

He was a rock pioneer, one of my earliest guitar influences (to this day I still love to play along with that 1st album) and one of the few who never really cared about making it big. He always did exactly what he wanted, not what some label wanted him to do.

Yeah, quite a loss for the guitar god pantheon.

I was wondering who was going to be #3.

RIP

Wow. Cool video.

'Rock Candy' may be the best Hard Rock record ever. RIP Ronnie.

Yeah, I don't why, but it seems like groups always gave their best performances when appearing on The Old Greys Whistle Test.

Even groups that were known to give poor live performances seemed to step it up on that show.

Some other really cool Whistle Test videos from that era are Argent doing God Gave Rock and Roll To You and Bill Withers doing a completely stripped down rendition of Ain't No Sunshine without all the silly violins and other junk.
