I see no mention of this movie in this forum. I've been seeing the trailer for a while and according to the premise on IMDB it sounds a bit like Escape From New York only different. The girl from Taken has to be rescued again?

Very hard R rated script (I read it). But it's PG-13 so that means it has been heavily edited to achieve that rating, or neutered while filming.

Oh yes, I was hoping you would comment about this one. I've been looking forward to it for a couple of months now. One reason being it looks like a fun Sci-fi movie and those are hard to come by these days. Another is it looked like a nice, proper R rated action movie. I screamed at the tv when i saw it was rated PG13.

You're right about another thread, it was spelled Lock-out so my search did not come up with the title. Anyway...

Now the pre-order is up on Amazon and it is the unrated version.

It is a violent action film, but minus the violence and action. Epic fail.

Agh! Matt beat me, again. tongue.gif

Summed up pretty well and snarky. biggrin.gif It is an okay Sci-fi action movie and has it's moments but it does feel.....neutered and held back at many times.

It wasn't. frown.gif

I saw it in the cinema at PG-13 and at home Unrated. I think there was an extra shot at the very beginning of some dude getting shot in the head.....and that was it.

Picked the BD up at BB (along with Get the Gringo) as a blind buy.
They are running their $5 DVD Trade-In Offer again.
Would have just NFed it, if not for that.

The sfx in the chase scene was laughable. The rest was okay. Worth a rental if there's nothing else available.

This was pretty lame. I appreciated the humor but I liked the original "Escape From New York" much better. Guy Pearce is no Snake Pliskin and should probably change his name to Guy Pierce and go into porno. The Timberlake flick "In Time" was far superior and that's not saying much.

In this movie Guy Pearce Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
Plays a guy named Snow and there are informers.

Ehh...it was alright, had me entertained somewhat. Light fun, nothing too fussy or contrived which is a fresh change nowadays. But it's movies like this and Who's afraid of the dark is starting to show that Pearce is vastly over rated and have been milking Memento to it's final drops. He's just another decent working actor. I hope he gets his head off the clouds and start to do more stuff like this rather than keep trying to do more overly pretentious fluff Oscar chasing roles in the past. It's about time he realizes that he's no Daniel day Lewis and perform within himself which is what I would like.

Poor man's Escape for New York. I was looking forward to this but I don't think it delivered at all.

FINALLY got to it tonite.
Well....if it wasn't for the wife, I would have dumped it.
WAY WAY too many WTF moments IMO.

Only 2 things are worth a look here: GP does a good job as an Action Hero and the "Han Solo/Princess Leia Repartee" was entertaining....to a point.

At times I thought the story was moving too fast, as it's often the case with Luc Besson's productions. Not that bad, certainly watchable, but could have been a lot better too.

Agreed.
I think the writing is the primary culprit here, but the plot also has elements of other movies that are too well known.
GP's performance is wasted IMO.
