The conceit is simple enough, where two writers at a restaurant, debating the comedy vs. tradgedy thing provide their separate intepretations of the same storyline, so we get the same basic story interwoven together from the two perspectives. The one common character is Melinda, played by Radha Mitchell.
Maybe it's just that Woody Allen knows how to make Radha Mitchell incredibly aluring or something. Certainly it's part of the attraction for me, and she looks great in this one. And Cloe Sevigny looks great as well. Will Ferrell is Woody Allen's stand this time around, and he's a good choice for that I think. But everyone does a good job in this one.
Sometimes it's just the most throw away silly one liners of his movies that crack me up the most:
Hey, Greg, did you shoot this?
Well, actually, l shot all of those. Twice a year l go to Africa. The experience would take your breath away. Huge herds of kudu - greater kudu and lesser kudu.
Which is bigger? The greater kudu or or the lesser kudu?
Anyway, I enjoyed it a lot. I figure that probably a lot of folks these days may just not even check some of his recent movies out, but I'd say give it a try if you haven't watched it.
