"I just heard the very sad news that Donna Summer has passed away. For me, there is no doubt that her song I Feel Love had a dramatic effect on modern music. it was certainly a key influence on my work with Duran Duran. Together with producer Giorgio Moroder, Donna pioneered the use of electronic sequencers in dance music. Todaythat sound that seems so familiar, but in 1977 it was a brave new frontier. It's extremely rare that you hear one song that completely changes the way you perceive music. I Feel Love achieved that. "

Nick Rhodes (Duran Duran) 16 -5 -12.

From this morning's status update on the official Duran Duran Facebook page.

Oh wow, she was a true soul angel. My 1st graduation 6th grade song 1979 was none other than her "Last Dance" that we all to pair with up another classmate and had to perform for our parents. I must have heard the song a thousand times during practice sessions.

The TMZ report said she died from lung cancer. She believes it had to do with inhaling toxic particles from the Twin Tower collapse on 9/11. I don't know about that.

She was a huge talent and it went way beyond the disco thing. To me, disco had some bright moments and she had a lot of them! There some good ideas from her catalog I would love to see on my 5.1 high resolution wish list! God bless you Donna and thanks.
