Can anybody shoot me a movie forum or forum in general with a community which might be able to recommend me some movies for this weekend, based on what I like and what I kinda want.
I was just hoping to throw out some movies I like or repeatedly watch, and see if I can fish up some more. Looking at dark romantic dramady. I suppose. I don't know which kind of prerequisites you were looking for.
Thanks.

"Dark romantic" -- I'm not sure what that category would include. A movie starring Susan Sarandan, perhaps? wink.gif

Yeah, that is kind of an interesting genre choice. Woody Allen films might fit. Others:

Stranger Than Fiction
Broken Flowers
Sideways
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
Y Tu Mama Tambien
Wes Anderson's Rushmore or The Royal Tenenbaums
Up In The Air
(500) Days of Summer

Mow, fertilize, and properly water the grass and it will grow a nice deep green!

These are probably more old-school (for the most part) than what the OP is lookin for, but here's what I came up with for "dark romantic dramedies"...

After Hours
Amelie
An American Werewolf in London
American Beauty
The Apartment (1960, Jack Lemmon)
Arsenic and Old Lace
Beastly
Bedazzled (either version)
Cocteau's Beauty and the Beast
Blow
Chasing Amy
Class
The Corpse Bride (animated)
Cyrus
Donnie Darko
Edward Scissorhands
Family Plot
Four Weddings and a Funeral
The Ghost and Mrs. Muir
The Ghost Breakers
The Graduate
I Was a Teenage Werewolf
The Little Shop of Horrors
The Ninth Gate
Reality Bites
Risky Business
Secretary
Sleepwalkers
Sid & Nancy
Sweeney Todd
Blake Edward's 10
True Romance
Twilight Saga
Young Frankenstein

These obviously run the gamut from mostly dramatic and/or darkly satiric (e.g. American Beauty, Blow, Donny Darko, Sid & Nancy) to mostly comedic (e.g. Arsenic & Old Lace, The Ghost Breakers, Young Frankenstein, and the more recent Bedazzled).

Bingo. I have seen all of these. All of them superb. Some are a bit more dark, such as Eternal Sunshine and Y Tu or *maybe* 500 Days.

Loved it. More so than usual. I very much recommend this film.

Alot of these I haven't seen. I however can comment on some. I in particular have seen and *loved* American Beauty, Donnie Darko, Amelie, and Twilight. I will look into the rest. I've seen The Graduate which I enjoyed as well as Cyrus. Thanks guys for the recommends. I'll be queuing up Netflix here soon with recommends. I'm currently on the trail of The Apartment, which was also recommended. I won't forget Teeth or Bitter Moon.

Just beat me to it. Added some fuel to the OP. I adore Melancholia. You are correct, its hauntingly moving. Great link Another Earth to Melancholia.

Alan Rudolph had an interesting trilogy in the 1980s, each with Genevieve Bujold and Keith Carradine.

I have capsule reviews and thumbnails of:

...and will have to revisit The Moderns soon.

If you go to this link and look to the right you will see a box with a listing of all the best reviewed films for quite a few years. Metacritic is a great site for finding films to see or rent. If you go to the home screen and click on movies, then in theaters, you will get a list of all the films currently in release graded by number reviews. Just click in rate by Metascore and it will automatically list the all the films by highest score. (100 being perfect).
