What a mess. This thing gets a lower rating than "Snow White and the Three Stooges," and that should be flat impossible.

and to this I reply:

Saving Private Ryan
Minority Report
A.I.
Munich
Catch Me if You Can
War Horse
Lincoln

To say he became a has-been is ludicrous to say the least.

Jurassic Park IV - Director: Colin Trevorrow

Always amazes me how many people confuse a Steven Spielberg production with a Steven Spielberg film.

I was responding to oink's Spielberg comment. Besides, this is a Jurassic Park thread, not a Jurassic Park IV thread, so Spielberg discussion is allowed.

SS became a has-been pretty much after the "WotW" remake; really?

"But I didn't do it...!"
"I knew you'd say that"...*BLAM!*

FWIW, which is zero, I do like:
SPR
A.I.
Munich
WOTW

I guess I should explain a little further...
SS was a phenomena.
He (and GL) saved the Hollywood system with their blockbusters.

Look at his early works:
Jaws
Close Encounters
E.T.
Indiana Jones 1&2

It seemed as if he could make both a gigantic moneymaker AND a critical hit at the same time.
The sky was the limit with this guy.

Unfortunately, he started sucking on the Sentimentality egg waaaay too hard.
And we were getting things like:
The Color Purple (a very good movie completely ruined by the final scene, an omen of things to come)
IJ3
Always
The Lost World
Amistad
The Terminal
IJ4
Tintin
War Horse
Lincoln

The early genius that was SS is now completely gone.....and replaced by his gramma.

With maybe the exception of Munich, I believe these were all made before WoTW...but don't quote me on that.

The only good thing about The Color Purple (IMO) is Oprah, but even she couldn't save it. And I thought Tintin (which I did enjoy) was a Zemekis-Direction, but don't quote me on that, either.

Once upon a time time Spielberg made magical movies. Some time later he just started to make good movies.

I think Schindlers list were the last magical movie he made. Minority Report is a close call but I think its more of a good movie.

Good movies are as rare as an on topic discussion.

Tintin was a collaboaration between Spielberg and Peter Jackson. Spielberg directed, Jackson produced, with the intention that they would swap roles for the planned sequel. However, now that Jackson is tied up with The Hobbit for a while, those plans may change.

Robert Zemeckis had no involvement.
