I have an idea that when you posted you had in mind the recent disappointing Spiderman reboot. With a black actor as Batman the writers would have to change the character's backstory, which after my reaction to The Amazing Spiderman, strikes me as a good thing.

Although you are right that the James Bond of Ian fleming's novels was a smooth well born womanizer, the first and most successful bond on film was Sean Connery. Despite his elegant manners and beautiful clothes, Connery's Bond was very much a working class tough guy with a Scottish brogue. I think that Daniel Craig has replicated so much of that, minus the brogue of course, that and I have very much enjoyed his Bond films. Better yet, Craig's Bond evinces a sadness and darkness of spirit we didn't see much of if any of in Connery's films.

I would agree with this, and as the other poster mentioned, the novels and Craig are more similarly matched, which I had forgotten about. The point being, change isn't necessarily a bad thing and in fact can be quite successful when proper care is taken. They did so with Bond, they could do the same with Batman.

I agree. The new Spiderman was a suckfest.

Uh, no he's not. Ian Fleming based his portrayal of James Bond on Cary Grant. Bond could handle himself in a scrap, but he was very much a gentleman spy. He was never a rough-and-tumble bruiser. I like the Daniel Craig movies, but he's very much a reinterpretation of the character.

my only problem with Reynolds is that hes good for Bruce Wayne, might not be the best choice for batman. they need to find a balance like they had with Clooney (too bad that the film sucked)

But he sucked as Bruce Wayne. You have to have both in a actor.

This isn't the only place where people are mulling over the next actor to play Batman.

As they say - read 'em and weep.

Top 10 Actors That Can Play Batman After The Dark Knight Rises

Ryan Gosling
Bradley Cooper
Michael Fassbender
Idris Elba (betcha didn't see that one coming)
Joseph Fiennes
Wes Bentley
Joe Manganiello
Dominic Cooper
Andrew Lincoln
Stephen Dorff

At the risk of starting something again, I think Idris Elba would make a great Batman and bring something fresh to the concept. I also thought a 10 years or so younger Denzel Washington would have been great in the role as well.

Although Idris Elba is a fine actor and would be an interesting change of pace for the Batman saga, my first choice would be Michael Fassbender. The prospect of either Ryan Gosling or Joseph Fiennes as the Caped Crusader caused me severe gastric distress.

LOL!

...I agree Michael Fassbender would be a great choice! He has an elegant, playboy/dandy-like stature and can be very menacing as well. I'd watch this Batman smile.gif

Yeah Fassbender has a lot of range. He can shift from elegant pretty boy to menacing heavy in the blink of an eye. He also does a good job as a tortured hero. I can't imagine a better choice for the next Batman, even if Christopher Nolan isn't coming back. What if Quentin Tarantino were to direct the next one? The chances of that happening are minuscule, of course, but it's an intriguing speculation.

A Tarantino version would be like Scarecrow's induced hallucinations in Batman Begins. Definitely would have to watch that in the over 21 theater after a few daddy soda's.

Tarantino is an original guy who, to say the least, marches to his own drummer. Nevertheless, I confess, I am a fanboy and think that he does great work. Tarantino's quirky point of view makes everything he does delightful to me.
