Ben Affleck to Direct JUSTICE LEAGUE Movie?
Quote:
You read the headline right: Warner Bros. is reportedly eying Ben Affleck (Gone Baby Gone) to helm Justice League, DC and WB’s answer to Marvel/Disney’s The Avengers. Affleck is expected to enter discussion with the studio higher-ups within the next few days. So far, he’s the only candidate who has received the script from Gangster Squad scribe, Will Beall. Affleck has also set a recent precedent of directing films he also stars in, which may mean that we’ll be seeing him on screen in some capacity, whether super-suited or not

Given the type of movies he has directed that could be interesting! I like him, both as an actor and a director.

I like him more as a director than an actor. Another article I was reading was speculating that he'd want to take on the role of Batman. I'm not sure I'd feel too comfortable with the success of that. Whoever takes on Batman has some big shoes to fill.

The superhero team up will feature Batman and Superman, alongside Wonder Woman, Green Lantern and the Flash.

So much for the Martian Manhunter huh? Too bad. He should have been included.

Affleck is joining actors like Costner, Gibson and Eastwood: better behind the camera than in front of. Not that they're bad actors, just that they're excellent directors. Marvel took a risk by using non-action directors (Favreau, Branagh) for some of their superhero movies, which got a little more humanity out of those films than they would have gotten from the typical action director. With that in mind, I think Affleck would be a good choice for a JL film. The fact that his previous films were centered more around the actors than action will be an asset, not a liability.

I’ve got money on who will be the first to post that there will be an agenda and they will be preached to. It could be close, but I definitely have a favorite. wink.gifbiggrin.gif

The article doesn't dissuade me very much.

Affleck has had some experience and insights into the comic book universe.
Whether or not he is the right guy for TJL, I dunno....
No doubt whoever does it, for better or worse, he WILL be compared to Whedon's Avengers...

I never got the justice league. Superman pretty much kills any credibilty as the guy cant be touched yet they hire Batman who isnt even a real superhero just some guy in a mask and cape with a belt.

Then you have Aquaman. What is he worth? Last I checked no one is robbing banks in the ocean. Other than stopping somali pirates this guy is irrelevant. Then you have wonder woman. A lady that reflects bullets with her bracelets. Yea like thats going to go over with people in 2012. rolleyes.gif

I don't follow comic books, but from what I've gathered, Wonder Woman's powers have been upgraded over the years to the point where she's basically a female Superman now.
