It's official: they're making an ALF movie -- but without the puppet that we know and love. ALF Will be a CGI creature in a live-action world. Will it work?

Quote:
Sony Pictures Animation has inked a deal with ALF creators Tom Patchett and Paul Fusco to create a CGI/live-action hybrid film of the hairy alien.

Back in May, Fusco was entertaining the idea. “I think the timing is right. That’s a big important thing, timing,” he said. “There have been movies out there of characters that I didn’t think were on the same parallel as ALF that got movies made, so I think it’s time. I think it could be a home run on a lot of levels.”

Writers and directors have no yet been announced.

I liked the show when it was and I'll defiantly check out the movie. I just hope they do the show justice and make some hack job movie.

Agreed...

I think we are going to have to give credit to Ted on this one since it did so well in theaters.

Let's only hope it's Rated R and produced by Seth McFarlane...

I'm thinking that this is either going to be a travesty or complete scheiße. Perhaps both.

Melonfranking CGI Alf. Surely our 2012 suit tech is advanced enough to handle this. Farm me gently with a chainsaw.

Help me Rhonda, help help me Rhonda.

I think that is right? Wasn't Rhonda ALF's long lost love?

The thing is, it doesn't need to be CG.

If you ever get a chance, check out the first episode of ALF on TheHub (or whatever channel it's on these days). They make extensive use of someone in an ALF full body suit and it's very convincing.

XBOX Live: Wagmman
PSN: Wagg
BFBC2: Wagman
Steam: Wag

My Second Life character looks and acts exactly like me except he can fly.

Agree, CGI creations of puppets/suit almost never work. Sure a CGI version allows more freedom, but at the same time a puppet/suit can work
wonderful with some creative thinking.

ALF is a character driven story, not effect driven. Just create the right story and the rest will solve itself.
