being a young guy I didn't get to watch all of her works but I did enjoy her voice acting in the cartoon Hey Arnold. RIP

No subwoofer I've heard has been able to produce the bass I've experienced in the Corps!

Must..stop...buying...every bluray release...

She's been out of the public eye for so long that I didn't realize she was still alive (until now). I have childhood memories of Bob Hope and Phyllis Diller, and her laugh, and her hair. smile.gif RIP.

I don't know Butchie instead

Funny, funny woman. And a guidepost for women in standup comedy. There have been fairly recent interviews with her that revealed a mind still very sharp and perceptive.

A 1986 interview with Terry Gross shows just how smart this woman was:

My condolences to Fang. (As well as wondering how many here will be asking "who is Fang?") wink.gif

I saw Diller recently in some extra on a DVD or Bluray where she had lent her house for filming and in the extra took the crew on a tour. For her age she still seemed alert and witty.

I too saw her in something recently and it seemed as though she hadn't lost her touch at all.

I heard a bit of her last stand-up act in '06 and her voice sounded strong and clear, her timing as sharp as ever. Of course, that was 6 years ago and when you get into your 80's and later there's a tendency to go downhill suddenly.

I suspect it's because by that time you've already vastly exceeded your expiration date. wink.gif

What's troubling to me is when growing replacement organs from your own stem cells, or vastly extending lifespans by futzing with your DNA or preventing chromosomal telemeres from breaking off or whatever they'll noodle out next, becomes routine. The great sci-fi author Kim Stanley Robinson took a look at the possible ramifications of that in his Hugo and Nebula award-winning "Red Mars" series. And it wasn't pretty. We'd better have Mars teraformed as an overflow planet by then, or else.

I wonder who gets her meticulously compiled and maintained joke file, which she said contained every joke she ever told.

I doubt very much the Common Man will ever have access to that kind of technology....only the "one percent" will reap its benefits.wink.gif
In fact, I would be surprised if that wasn't actually happening right now.

Think of what would happen if everyone could afford such a thing....eek.gif
