Interesting. It wasn't posted here. I did look around a bit on the web as well. Although my local theater was showing it (and has at least one 4k projector), I wasn't able to get a clear answer one way or the other. As I said, I couldn't go either way, but hope they get better about disclosing the technology used for projecting these sort of things.

Thanks for the update. The Cinemark Tinseltown cineplex in OKC was on your list. I saw a movie there today and saw that they are now billing their Number 1 theater as "Extreme Digital." This gives me hope that they will show the 4K version of Lawrence of Arabia there. I asked the young man taking tickets whether the Extreme Digital was a 4K theater and he said that it was but who knows what he really knows.

gwsat, hope you were able to see and enjoy the restoration. I did and thought the improved clarity and contrast were excellent. I will buy the Blu-ray DVD. My only criticism of the theatric presentation is: Please, movie theaters...eek.gifturn down the soundeek.gif! Oh yes, loud explosions, chugging trains, and galloping camels are dramatic; but past a certain point they become "just noise." When sound is loud enough to cause discomfort, it's too much. Aside from that, the music and dialogue were crystal clear and wonderful...Loved LoA in 4K! smile.gif

Carver HR-752 ~ Carver TFM-35 ~ Sony KDL-55W900A (Terk HDTVa OTA) ~ OPPO BDP-103 ~ AQ Cinnamon HDMI video & Diamondback analog audio ~ Monster Z2 biwire ~ Polk Audio LSi15
Waste not, want not. Well, except 4K OLED...that, I want.

I was watching Argo and it was ad for turner classic release! I vaguely remember Sony also had a slide for 4K restoration? Is it gone with the wind?

Missed the 4k showing by one day. I have seen the 70mm restoration when it first came out and it would be hard to top that.
