Trying to rank them makes no sense to me.
I was trying to think of the guy from Bruford's name. After Levin, he was one of the first ones that popped into my head (after the most obvious, popular names, like Wooten and Clarke).
And Percy Jones - whoa! What a great choice that I completely forgot about! How in the world he didn't immediately come to mind I don't know.
Jamerson would be towards the top of the 'serves the song' category of bass players. Like Lee or Squire, he could play quite active bass lines that still seem to be very anchored to the song structure. And doing so in the context of the 3 minute pop songs he was doing is quite a feat.
