Funny you mention that. I just picked up the blu-ray last week and had read reviews about how some people had a hard time wrapping their minds around it. I thought it was pretty straight forward. Of course, it helped that the "new" Outer Limits series had an episode that was pretty much along the same lines.

Four Lynch films in that list, makes sense. Although Blue Velvet could easily fit in there as well, after Frank Booth shows up and takes over.
