Another stimulating Bob Rafelson-Jack Nicholson pairing, back when Nicholson was a marvelous film actor and had not yet drifted into goofy self-parody. Performances by a stellar cast are good all around but with a truly awesome performance by Ellen Burstyn!
Right you are. The acting is what keeps this film afloat.

Argento's Phenomena (aka:Creepers). Colorful, but not one of his best.

Jennifer Connelly again, her second film. As you say, it's Argento, so people ought to know what they're getting into.

No, I've never heard of a colorized Strangelove, or know what character that would be.

I don't know what you intended, but it comes close to spoiling the game for others.

Bill, look @ the humorous side of life, not just as a serious game of movie guessing. Give latitude, share the humor that others share with you. This was a one-time shot at guessing the right movie title, but reversing the screenshots of two flicks. ...'Them' I did not guess. ...It's not the end of the world, it's only Monday.

You will never see me doing this again, you have my word on that.

Correct! Them! (1954)

Starring James Whitmore, James Arness, Edmund Gwenn and Joan Weldon.

The posted picture was of a young Leonard Nimoy playing an Air Force sergeant monitoring unusual events.

I saw this in the theater as a child and whenever it played on late night TV growing up. The first of the 'big bug' movies it was originally going to be shot in widescreen 3D and Warner Color but eventually had its budget cut (due to someone's lack of confidence in the project I assume) and it ended up in black and white with a 1.75:1 aspect ratio. However once the studio realized they had a hit on their hands they went all-out to promote the movie especially to kids!

There is a lot of fascinating background information on the film production I won't go into here except to point out that George Worthing Yates who penned the story treatment for Them! would go on work on a slew of other sci-fi B-movies like Conquest of Space (1955), It Came from Beneath the Sea (1955), Earth vs. the Flying Saucers (1956), The Amazing Colossal Man (1957), Attack of the Puppet People (1958), Earth vs. the Spider (1958), The Flame Barrier (1958), Frankenstein 1970 (1958), Space Master X-7 (1958) and War of the Colossal Beast (1958).

Below are promotion materials for Them!
