Is that Michael Caine in The Muppet Christmas Carol? He's a great Scrooge.

Pasolini would say to that: "You know me better than I know myself".

Indeed.

My family decided we needed a massive dose of Scrooge last Saturday so I had to wade through Mickey's Christmas Carol (1983), The Muppet Christmas Carol (1992) and Christmas with the Kranks (2004).

The Muppet version is entertaining enough and Michael Caine gives it his best when acting opposite each character. As with most Muppet movies it's a musical with some charming songs by Paul Williams. Ebert gave it 3 out of 4 stars.

Correct. Welcome to the game!

Thomas Sangster had little boy roles for a very long time. He's finally gotten to play adults recently.

Claudia Schiffer is a model, whose name was a running gag in the film: "My next girlfriend will be Claudia Schiffer". She appears as a school mom at the end.

Bill,

Revisiting this title because I viewed my Blu-ray copy last night. Had to import it from Australia since a U.S. version is nowhere to be seen although other Sandra Bullock catalog movies came out earlier this year. It's a Touchstone (Disney) film so who knows,

https://www.jbhifi.com.au/movies-tv-...eeping/307494/

However, the BR is a bit of a disappointment resolution-wise. It's as soft as the DVD version and when I did some screen captures between the BR and DVD there was little apparent difference - except the colors were somewhat more pronounced on the BR - but nothing night and day.

The sound was decent - dts Master Audio 5.1. The aspect ratio at 1:85:1 is correct. The BR cover art - front and back - is almost a copy of the DVD.

Although the Australian seller now lists this as a B Region title my copy had the ABC logo indicating all regions. The disc played fine on my regular Panasonic BR player.

At any rate it's a Christmas feel-good movie that still entertains my family.

This game is sooooo cruel! ...It's all about timing.

* And that screenshut from 'The Hunt for Red October' was just too easy, so close to Christmas. ...You didn't need any goggle to guessed it.

Bingo!

Too easy? Hmmmm. I guess the submarine set has become somewhat iconic over the years.

The Hunt for Red October (1990) was based on the 1984 novel by Tom Clancy. One of the top grossing films of the year, generating $122 million in North America and over $200 million worldwide in box office business.

I remember being disappointed that Alec Baldwin did not repeat as Jack Ryan when the sequel was announced. Ebert rated it 3.5 out of 4 calling it - a skillful, efficient film.

My New Year's resolution is to earn "supervillain" status on this thread over Mr. G, Kilgore, rdgrimes, NorthSky, Hitchfan, Robnix, Josh Z, et al.

Yeah, and then I'll become a Chinese Jet Pilot
