If it's not Amy Smart then it must be Sarah Polley. You've jumped into the lead again.

Right you are. Obscure? Not on Netflix streaming where this title was front and center - probably because of my viewing habits.

CREATOR: gd-jpeg v1.0 (using IJG JPEG v62), quality = 95

The title for this film is likely a shortened version of the phrase - The Devil's In The Details. I was reminded of Fargo while I watched this movie, how one person's decisions and plans can sometimes go terribly wrong.

I was attracted to this film mainly because of Elizabeth Banks and Laura Linney although bug-eyed Tobey McGuire does a fine job in his role. It's considered a dark comedy and although there are a few laugh out loud and outrageous moments much of it is drama-driven. This movie is not for everyone. 6/10.

I wasn't that clever this time!

William Marshall had one of the great voices of his era, and is, of course, immortal because he was in an original Star Trek episode: The Ultimate Computer.

You are on a roll. Correct! This was reviewed in 2010 in the Review older films here: 1979 and earlier thread by drbonbi.

CREATOR: gd-jpeg v1.0 (using IJG JPEG v62), quality = 85

It's worth a memory jog if you're a Cary Grant fan. The poster almost conveys the sense that you are about to see a musical. The lack of chemistry between Grant and Jeanne Crain makes the story's premise hard to accept and it felt like Crain's performance was dragging the story down. The movie is based on a German play and looks staged except for the visit to the family farm. There are some lapses in logic but you go with it for the movie's sake. Was this a love story about a holistic doctor and an unwed/pregnant woman or was it really about the political climate (Communist witch-hunt) of the period? A frothy coating on a more serious subject? It's an uneven movie that's carried by Grant's performance.

It's streaming on Netflix and Amazon Prime in HD. 6/10.
