Indeed. Well done. Ghost Story (1981). Often overlooked in this day of gore-fest horror movies.

CREATOR: gd-jpeg v1.0 (using IJG JPEG v62), quality = 95

Based on the 1979 bestseller written by Peter Straub and considered one of the finest horror novels of the late 20th century by Stephen King. The movie did well at the box-office making over $23 million in the USA but opened to mixed reviews. A must-watch for the Halloween season.

The movie is a slimmed down version of the book and of course some people were not happy with that. However I feel it makes up for any story shortcomings with a great veteran cast including Fred Astaire, Melvyn Douglas, Douglas Fairbanks Jr, and John Houseman. Also starring Craig Wasson, Patricia Neal and Alice Krige.

It was first released on DVD in 1998 with an anamorphic DVD following in 2004. As far as I know there has not been a Blu-ray release, a shame. 8/10.

Mr. G - agreed! read the book years ago, have seen the movie a couple of times over the years. Here's a pic of Dick Smith's original -sadly rejected- ghost: "This apparition was never used in the film, but a copy was used in "House on Haunted Hill" in 2000, with my permission." -Dick SmithLEAD Technologies Inc. No, although that one does have mud wresting. I reviewed it here: Stripes (1981)

Still available:

I knew the movie as soon as I noticed the mask, it took me a bit to recall the exact title.

Complete guess - Ten Tall Men? Looks like Burt (but then again, I mistook Gregg Henry for William Hurt some pages back haha)

No, sorry. I'll have to look that one up, though.
